You win 74 consecutive games on “Jeopardy!” as well as over $4 million and people suddenly think you have to be perfect and 100% correct at all moments.
At least, that’s the struggle of ultimate “Jeopardy!” champion Ken Jennings. However, he often takes to Twitter to fire back at people pointing out tiny grammatical mistakes or other errors he’s made.
Recently, Ken Jennings tweeted about what his life would be like as a DJ. He wrote, “If I was a radio dj, I bet my favorite part of the job would be gettin back to the music.”
Meanwhile, a fan decided to come after him for a tiny little grammatical error. The user wrote, “The subjunctive mood, sir! Use it! I expect more from a Jeopardy! god!”
It was no match for Ken Jennings, who is equal parts genius and sass. He responded, “Your account, good sir! Delete it! Your fedora, remove it!” It was mocking the way in which the user came after his grammatical malpractice. In the end, it was all in good fun as the grammar police responded, “Touché, good sir. Touché.”
It isn’t the first time Jennings has gotten coy with some of his online fans. He once even offered his own grammatical suggestion. Right after the Meghan Markle and Oprah Winfrey interview, Jennings had an interesting takeaway.
He wrote, “Hate to be a grammar scold but instead of ‘Sussexes’ maybe it should be ‘Sussices?'”
New Poll Regarding Future ‘Jeopardy!’ Host
As we get further into summer, “Jeopardy!” fans are getting antsy over who producers are selecting as the full-time host of the popular trivia show. Since November, “Jeopardy!” has been filling in episodes with guest hosts.
Ken Jennings had a six-week stint while everyone else hosted for two weeks. The showrunners have said that they will make a choice for the full-time host by the end of summer, which is when filming for the next season is set to begin.
Jennings is one of many hoping for that spot.
According to a series of polls from Civic Science, Ken Jennings came out on top with 22% to the question, “Which of the following ‘Jeopardy!’ guest hosts would you most like to see become the show’s permanent host?” Aaron Rodgers was No.2 with 16%.
Meanwhile, LeVar Burton is a popular person for the job, despite not even appearing as a host yet. He even inspired many people to actually petition to get him on the stage. In regards to the question, “Which of the upcoming ‘Jeopardy!’ guest hosts do you think would make for the best permanent host?” Burton came out on top with 25%. The other hosts included Mayim Bialik and Savannah Guthrie (who have now actually started hosting) as well as Joe Buck and Burton.
All in all, it seems pretty unclear who will get that position as the host of the show. The producers have a lot to think about.
