Award-winning journalist Katie Couric will make history soon when she kicks off her two weeks on the stage of Jeopardy! as the show’s first-ever female host.

Couric, well-known as a former co-anchor on the Today show, will participate as a guest host on Jeopardy! from March 8 to March 19. As of right now, the longest-running television quiz show will continue to utilize a mix of rotating hosts in the wake of Alex Trebek’s tragic passing.

“Alex was a legend, revered by all of us,” Jeopardy! executive producer, Mike Richards said. “I want to thank our guest hosts, who will not only help all of us celebrate his great legacy, but also bring their own touch to the show.”

Meanwhile, Couric says that it is an honor and a thrill to help the show continue operating after Trebek’s death.

“It is such a thrill to be here guest hosting a show I’ve watched for years, and a real honor to help as we recover after Alex,” Katie Couric said in a statement.

As a part of Katie Couric’s guest-host appearance, a donation will be made to Stand Up To Cancer. Couric, a New York Times bestselling author, co-founded the organization in 2008. According to an official statement from the show, the donation will be equal to however much money is won on the show for the two weeks that Couric is the host.

“The amount donated will equal the cumulative winnings of the contestants that compete during the weeks Couric will serve as guest host.”

Meanwhile, Couric is just one of a new slate of guest hosts. She will join Dr. Mehmet Oz, Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, Call Me Kat star Mayim Bialik and 60 Minutes correspondent Bill Whitaker.

Dr. Oz and Aaron Rodgers Will Follow Katie Couric As ‘Jeopardy!’ Hosts

After Katie Couric serves her two weeks behind the Jeopardy! lectern, the show will then move on to other guest hosts. The first two of those will be Dr. Oz on March 22, and then NFL MVP (and 2015 Celebrity Jeopardy! champion) Aaron Rodgers will take his turn.

It’s been a particularly eventful offseason for Rodgers, who in addition to hosting perhaps the world’s most popular game show, just recently announced his engagement to actress Shailene Woodley. He recently appeared in an interview with The Pat McAfee Show on Sirius XM where he called the upcoming gig “special” and “very exciting.”

“The show has been so special to me over the years,” Rodgers said. “It’s been a staple at my house here in Green Bay for the last 16 years — 6 o’clock, watching Alex and trying to get as many questions as I can.”
