’Jeopardy!’: Katie Couric’s First Episode as Guest Host Airs Tonight, Here’s What Fans Are Saying

The well-known journalist and television anchor, Katie Couric, is making “Jeopardy!” history this week as she prepares to take her spot behind the coveted lectern.

On Monday, Couric will mark a new era for the quiz show as she will be the first female guest host. Couric is the latest interim guest host to take the stage after Ken Jennings, and Mike Richards guest-hosted after longtime host Alex Trebek passed away in November.

So far, “Jeopardy!” fans are torn over who they prefer to take the role as permanent host. Both Jennings and Richards impressed viewers during their six-week stint on the show, leaving some fans unable to decide who they like more. Now, fans will get their chance to see Couric’s hosting skills starting on Monday.

Fans Weigh In On Katie Couric As ‘Jeopardy!’ Host

On social media, fans have already begun to give their opinions about the network’s decision to include Couric— and it seems like viewers are split when it comes to who they like better.

“I have an open mind so I will be watching. So far I am a Mike Richard’s fan as his voice was calming (as Alex’s was). Ken was a great contestant but as a host was to [sic] loud and tried to be funny. Maybe we need a different gender, time will tell. Just my opinion,” one user wrote on Twitter.

Another user seemed to be Team Jennings when they posted, “It’s better for y’all to just bring back @KenJennings early! Enough of the guest hosts! He’s the only one who is truly worth of following in Alex’s footsteps.”

“Interesting because before two weeks ago, no one had heard of Mike Richards…we won’t know how anyone else is as host until we see them host,” another added.

On Sunday, the show dropped never-before-seen images of Couric as “Jeopardy!” host, which show her at the iconic podium and reviewing her notes. Beginning on Mar. 8 and continuing until Mar. 19, Couric will act as interim host on the classic quiz show. Following her stint, Anderson Cooper, Savannah Guthrie, Dr. Mehmet Oz, Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Aaron Rodgers, Mayim Bialik, and Bill Whitaker will also serve as temporary hosts.
