Brace yourselves, ‘Star Wars’ fans: prequel quote incoming. Growing up with these films, I can confirm that I, too, also use this line often. And yes, this includes the pups!
“Thanks to this tweet, I now say “Hello boyos” every time I walk into a room where our dogs are,” Jennings tweets Monday. He includes the aforementioned tweet, a now-iconic quote from ‘Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.’
What is “Hello Boyos?” would’ve been a more fun, ‘Jeopardy!’ style reveal. Jennings’ straight-away reveal, however, prevents this author from doing so. Trust me, I tried. Didn’t work.
“A reminder that Jar jar has the funniest line in any star wars movie,” the original tweet reads. That’s a bit of an overstatement, but the line does at least feel like a Top 10.
Classic ‘Star Wars’ fans loathing for Jar Jar Binks aside, his signature “boyos” catchphrase makes for infinite quotability, indeed. For this lifelong fan of all things ‘Star Wars,’ I prefer the elongated version from the latter half of the film: “Hello there me’a boyos. Me’sa back!”
Sorry. I had to. The line itself, for anyone unable to view the retweet, comes when Jar Jar meets R2-D2 and his astromech droid friends for the first time upon Padme’s ship:
Jar Jar Binks: [Sees R2-D2 and other R2 units for the first time] Hello boyos.‘Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace’
But enough about ‘Star Wars’ – if there is such a thing.
Is ‘Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings Front-Liner to Host?
Courtesy of a statement that’s sure to make Jennings’ own fans happy, television icon Katie Couric recently put her name behind Ken’s own for ‘Jeopardy!’s permanent replacement for late, beloved Alex Trebek – his mentor.
“I think Ken Jennings was awesome,” Couric gushed to PEOPLE in a revealing interview. “I think there’s something about Ken! He’s so steep in the ‘Jeopardy!’ culture and ethos. There’s something really nice about seeing such a champion then help other people become champions.”
And don’t worry, she knows Trebek can never be replaced. In fact, her reasoning for Jennings’ taking the ‘Jeopardy!’ helm is to honor his legacy, not replace it.
“Alex Trebek was honestly so admired and heralded for being at the helm of that show for more than three decades,” Couric continued. “I think everyone was crushed when he passed away. But it’s a real honor to at least try to keep his spirit alive… And to be a part of what I think is not really a game show, but an American institution.”
Many viewers, however, think Katie Couric would be the perfect ‘Jeopardy!’ host to follow in Trebek’s footsteps. While that may be, Couric herself doesn’t agree. She’s put the question to rest, too, officially stating that she’s not wanting to take on the full-time hosting gig.
