‘Jeopardy!’ Ken Jennings Says J.K. Simmons in This Role is ‘Best Dad’ on Father’s Day

Jeopardy! icon Ken Jennings, who is a sort of Super Dad himself, is readily handing the title of “Best Dad” over to this iconic J.K. Simmons character for Father’s Day 2021. And no, it’s not J. Jonah Jameson from the original Spider-Man trilogy. Definitely not.

There’s definitely been no shortage of stellar roles for the unique talent that is J.K. Simmons. The gravelly actor is known for his intimidating presence, sure, but few possess the heart and comedic chops to compliment as Simmons does. His fans know this, for sure, and Jeopardy!‘s Ken Jennings is among said fans.

In his latest tweet, the genius-turned-game-show-host is lending his A+ Twitter game to Father’s Day. But he isn’t vying for the title of “Best Dad” on the holiday as other celebs might. Instead, he’s readily handing the crown over to J.K. himself. Well, sort of.

“Happy Father’s Day to the best dad in the whole wide world: J.K. Simmons in Juno,” the All-Time Champ posts to Twitter Sunday.

Nailed it. For those who remember the 2007 pregnancy/coming-of-age indie smash starring Elliott Page opposite Michael Cera, Juno was an instant classic – and remains so to this day. And through it all, Simmon’s loving, eccentric father (Mac) manages to steal the show in every scene he’s in – a trait the actor is known for.

‘Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings Sparks Father’s Day ‘Best Dad’ Debate

Fans are eager to add fuel to Jenning’s Father’s Day fire, too. One follower response does so perfectly as they quote one of Simmons’ character’s most memorable lines from Juno:

“That ain’t no Etch-a-Sketch. This is one doodle that can’t be undid, Homeskillet.”

Other Jeopardy! fans, however, have other nominations for “Best Dad” – with a handful being more J.K. Simmons characters.

“No the best dad is JK simmons in I Love You Man,” replies bicken bones with a screenshot of Simmons’ alongside his I Love You, Man son, Andy Samberg.

Others respond with his incredible performance from Whiplash, in which Simmons’ drumming mentor, Terence Fletcher, basically beats Miles Teller’s Andrew into (drum) line.

“And love and strength to the ones who got stuck with the band teacher from Whiplash as their dad,” one fan replies, sparking others to respond “Nah J.K. Simmons as the father figure in Whiplash is better” and “That movie should have just been called Dad, The Movie.”

Others mention his character in television drama Oz, while some fans switch actors completely to: “What about Stanley Tucci in Easy A?”

C’mon now, Twitter. Let’s stay focused on one iconic bald actor at a time, shall we?

As for Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings himself, the legend gives followers a glimpse into the life not of Ken Jennings: Jeopardy! Genius – but Ken Jennings: #Dad – on a regular basis, too.

“For 15 minutes every day, the whole house smells like my daughter’s microwaved soy chicken nuggets. Blessed to be a #dad,” the game show icon tweeted recently.

Sounds like a small price to pay for the joys of fatherhood, Mr. Jennings.
