No one can tease you better than your friends. This is true even if you’re an iconic champion of the famous quiz show, “Jeopardy!”

This fact of life must have become very clear to Ken Jennings on Wednesday, Aug. 11. It was on that day that news broke that Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik had been chosen as the new permanent hosts of “Jeopardy!” Jennings took to social media to share his thoughts about being passed over for the job that many fans of the show wanted him to land.

In response to this news, Jennings shared two tweets with his followers. First, he said, “In hindsight, maybe I shouldn’t have insisted to Jeopardy that I host every episode while eating a loud, juicy apple.”

Next, he shared that he was happy to see “Jeopardy!” move forward with two very respectable hosts in place.

“BUT I’m relieved that the guest-host carousel ride is over and excited to start work on the new season. Still my favorite show,” Ken Jennings also said.

Social media being what it is, these tweets by Ken Jennings did not go unnoticed by another “Jeopardy!” champion. And, that champion decided to take a very humorous shot at Jennings via social media.

This champion, unsurprisingly, was James Holzhauer. He is another wildly successful champion on “Jeopardy!”

In response to the tweets by Ken Jennings, Holzhauer tweeted. “Keep your head up, tryouts for the role of Second Best Chaser are still ongoing.”

This tweet, of course, included a reference to the other popular game show in which Holzhauer and Jennings have both appeared. That series is the quiz show, “The Chase.”

The Powers That Be Behind ‘Jeopardy!’ Selected Mike Richards and Mayim Bialik As Permanent Hosts

The role of the host of “Jeopardy!” was one that Ken Jennings had been in the running for. Not only had he become the most successful contestant in the history of the show, but he also served as a guest host following the passing of legendary host Alex Trebek. Trebek passed away in November 2020 after a battle with pancreatic cancer.

Many fans were impressed with the work Jennings did as the guest host of “Jeopardy!” However, it was the show’s producer Mike Richards and “The Big Bang Theory” actress Mayim Bialik that rose to the top of the list for the job of the show’s new hosts. Richards has been tasked with hosted the syndicated episodes of the show. Bialik will host the show’s special events.

Needless to say, Richards is very excited about this new job. And, he vows to do what he can to make sure that the show’s contestants are able to shine.

“…I pledge to ‘Jeopardy!’ fans everywhere that I will work to create the best show possible for our contestants to shine. This show is and will forever be about the contestants and the amazing clues,” Richards recently shared.
