“Jeopardy!” legend James Holzhauer had the perfect hot take while watching Georgia play Clemson in football, saying the game was like a Jake Paul fight.
Paul, an internet celebrity turned boxer, is undefeated in 4-0 boxing fights. He recently won a split decision with Tyron Woodley that seemingly had more drama outside the ring than in it.
So far #UGAvsClemson is the football equivalent of a Jake Paul fight— James Holzhauer (@James_Holzhauer) September 5, 2021
Many fans, including Holzhauer, were probably looking for a high-scoring affair when they tuned into the prime-time blockbuster college football battle on Saturday night.
However, they were probably surprised when defense became the name of the game. SEC team Georgia deflated ACC school and former national champion Clemson, 13-3, at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C.
When James Holzhauer Tweeted his hot take, another fan who had a Florida Gator logo for his profile picture, shot back “Unless you bet the under.”
Other Twitter users tried to come up with excuses ranging from the game was scheduled too early (they wanted Thanksgiving for the battle) to Clemson’s offense isn’t the same as it used to be. Former Clemson star quarterbacks Deshawn Watson and Trevor Lawrence may have spoiled Tiger fans before leaving for the pros.
But one thing’s for sure. Both powerhouses will find themselves and be likely bowl picks later in the season. Clemson will face small in-state school S.C. State next week before feasting on its ACC Division opponents this season. Georgia hosts Alabama-Birmingham next week.
James Holzhauer on Social Media Fire Lately
The former “Jeopardy!” champ has been heating up, posting recently about the show’s scandal. He’s made no secret in his dislike of former executive producer and former host Mike Richards.
That Tweet got almost 15,000 likes.
Another subsequent tweet came in the form of a clip from the old Wizard of Oz movie. In it, the movie cast dances around in joy over the Wicked Witch of the West’s demise. That clip looked to sum up James Holzhauer’s feelings quickly.
James Holzhauer wasn’t a fan of Richards and his behavior.
The legend linked to an Aug. 31 Hollywood Reporter article and basically said he formed a “much stronger negative opinion” based on how he saw Richards treat people backstage at the show.
But now that the permanent host contest is back open with Sony Pictures scrambling to figure things out, who does James Holzhauer like for the job?
On Aug. 20, he Tweeted that there were three apparent candidates for the permanent gig. But since the Richards ouster, we haven’t heard his new picks.
On Aug. 10, he ranked his picks based the idea that the permanent host would have to leave his or her current job and commit to “Jeopardy!” full time. As a Chicago Bears fan, he picked Packers QB Aaron Rodgers to go first and sports broadcaster Joe Buck second, meaning he’d like to see them out of their jobs.
