“Repeal the mask-man date!” says Jeopardy! icon Ken Jennings for the latest in his self-imposed CDC mask regulation pun-a-thon.

First… there was STAR TREK: The Next Generation. Now… Ken Jennings is lampooning the CDC’s guidelines with a much more visceral image from Tim Burton’s 1992 classic, Batman Returns.

The All-Time Jeopardy! champ has become the current king of mask puns of late. And who can blame him, as our mask-filled world turning potentially maskless once more is currently all the rage. His Friday post features another famous mask-laden faceoff (did I say mask yet?) in kind.

This time, it’s Michelle Pfeiffer‘s leather-laden Catwoman licking the glorious face of the original big-screen Batman, Michael Keaton.

“Repeal the mask-man date!” Ken captions the post, tongue-in-cheek. The image itself is also very tongue-in-cheek, with Pfeiffer’s own tongue making the rounds on Keaton’s ionic chin and lips:

My my, did it just get spicy up in here?

Regardless, the moral of the story is: if you need some excellent apolitical ammunition for your next pop-culture-fueled mask debate – following Ken Jennings on Twitter is a must.

‘Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings Brings the Puns When We Need Them Most

Need another moral of this story so soon? Happy to oblige.

As we enter a different era via the CDC’s updated mask guidelines, Ken Jennings is doing his part to diffuse the generally hyper-hostile Twittersphere. His feed serves as a feel-good escape for Jeopardy! fans and Twitter in general – and all at a time when we need it most.

Many things are uncertain as we move into the next phase of the COVID-19 Pandemic. And through Ken, we’re able to draw upon daily, bipartisan laughter. Honestly, what more could we ask for?

Yesterday, Jennings hit followers with the aforementioned STAR TREK: TNG reference that was so brilliant – so specific – that it’s sure to make pop-culture whizzes chuckle by the implications alone.

“I am fully vaccinated but will still be wearing my mask until Korgano speaks to Masaka and she vanishes from the sky,” Jennings tweeted out Thursday.

To the average tweeter, this reads as pure malarkey. To Trekkies, however, Korgano and Masaka immediately conjure visions of one of The Next Generation‘s most bonkers of entries. It’s worth revisiting Ken’s tweet for the Season 7 imagery and context alone, which you can do here. Thank us later.

In the end, that second moral of the story is more or less the same as the first. Jeopardy!‘s Ken Jennings cannot be topped as the King of Obscure Pop Culture References.

For this, and countless other reasons, this author is firmly behind Ken taking over the podium permanently from his late mentor, Alex Trebek.

In the meantime, keep up the killer puns, Sir Jennings. Outsider is 100% here for it.
