Ken Jennings was today-years-old when he learned this bulk grocery store hack.

As the man who seems to know everything, Ken was a little late in learning this grocery store trick. Ken recently shared what he learned from his wife, Mindy, on Twitter. He wrote, “My wife just casually told me that a nearby ‘fancy’ grocery store cuts up Costco sheet cake & resells it for $4 a slice and I am REELING.

How Did Ken Jennings Meet His Wife?

Mindy met Ken Jennings while they were both students at Brigham Young University. Mindy was majoring in theater while Ken studied English and computer science. Although Ken seemed highly confident during his 6-month winning streak on Jeopardy!, his dating life was a different story. During an interview, Mindy revealed that it took Ken nine months to ask her out after telling his roommate he wanted to date her. Eventually, Ken did ask Mindy out and she said yes. The two have been married for over 20 years and have two kids and a dog named Chance.

Mindy said that when Ken made it onto Jeopardy! they didn’t tell anyone about his winning streak including their kids and parents. She added that Ken wasn’t concerned about people knowing he’s smart. Instead, “He mostly wanted people to know he was funny.” She continued, “He’s not the type of person who wants you to know he knows everything.”

Mindy even helped Ken prep for his 2004 win on the show. In his book, Brainiac, Ken Jennings shared how he prepared for Jeopardy! He said that he watched as many episodes of the show as he could while standing behind his recliner.

“[The recliner] looks about the same height as the contestant podiums,” he told Mindy. “To prepare for the show. [And the ring-stack toy] is about the same size as the buzzer the contestants hold. I want to try different ways of holding it, and get used to pressing the button at the right time.”

As a former preschool teacher, Mindy offered to be Ken’s score-keeper while he practiced. She also held down the fort at home while Ken Jennings was away on his 74-game run on Jeopardy!
