Jennings’ latest tweet is more proof in the galactic pudding. Hitting his followers with a “fun fact,” Ken let’s “Jeopardy!” buffs in on a little-known factoid that’s sure to come in handy for the game show down the line…
“Fun fact, when A Tribe Called Quest said “Get the Force like Wan Kenobi,” that was actually correct. Obi-Wan’s closest friends call him “Wan,” we just never saw that in any of the movies,” Jennings posts, tongue-in-cheek.
Good ol’ Wan Kenobi! When you’re a Jedi Master, even just “Wan” sounds cool. Especially if said Jedi Master is brought to life by Sir Alec Guinness and Ewan McGregor.
Other “Star Wars” fans that follow the “Jeopardy!” icon, however, have different ideas. Like this chap, for example, who says “Wan Kenobi” is an entirely different – perhaps even more legendary – character:
“I always thought it was “Juan Quenobi”, their Dominican friend with the good weed,” Vasily responds. Classic.
Some followers are even as strong with the Force – er, puns – as Master Jennings.
“What were the odds you’d pick up on this? I would have said they were a million to Wan,” replies MT_Head. Well played, sir. Well played.
In addition, fan Terry lays out the OG’s words themselves, with: “Obi-Wan Kenobi? Obi-Wan? Now that’s a name I’ve not heard in a long time… a long time.”
A necessary inclusion? Of course it is! This author would never miss a chance to include an “A New Hope” quote in one of his articles.
‘Jeopardy!’s Ken Jennings is a Massive ‘Star Wars’ Nerd
“Jeopardy!”s Ken Jennings is never to be out-“Star Wars”ed, though. He’s a big ol’ nerd when it comes to the franchise, and this is said with both love and equal nerd-card-toting.
Brace yourselves, however, “Star Wars” fans: there’s a prequel quote incoming. Jennings’ love for all things SW is so hefty. So hefty, in fact, that “thanks to this tweet,” he says, “I now say “Hello boyos” every time I walk into a room where our dogs are.”
The aforementioned tweet is a now-iconic quote from “Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.” And it’s a doozy:
What is “Hello Boyos?” would’ve been a more fun, “Jeopardy!” style reveal. Jennings’ straight-away reveal, however, prevents this author from doing so. Trust me, I tried. Didn’t work.
Growing up with these films, I can confirm that I, too, also use this line often with my dogs.
The “Jeopardy!” alum more recently showed off his “Star Wars” love with this simple-yet-brilliant reaction. needless to say, the popular Spelling Bee game app needs to up their pop culture game. Because Chewbacca is absolutely a worthy champion’s word.
