We all knew it would eventually come to an end. But fans who were having such a fun time watching Jeopardy! champion Matt Amodio hoped the player would continue his historic run on the iconic game show.

However, with one particular Final Jeopardy! question, Amodio’s successful run came to an end this week.

On Monday, October 11, the game show champion player ended his thirty-eight-game winning streak. While it was a blow to Amodio fans to watch his final plays, the run the player had is one that will go down in Jeopardy! history books.

Where Does Amodio Sit Among The All-Time Champs?

Of course, Amodio’s Jeopardy! winning streak does fall short of the seventy-four game winning streak that all-time Jeopardy! champion Ken Jennings racked up in 2004.

However, Amodio’s thirty-eight straight Jeopardy! wins still put the game show contestant well within the top three placements of the game show’s champs.

Even as he finished his run during the Monday match-up, Amodio is placed in third place for overall regular Jeopardy! win amounts with total winnings of his $1,518,601 during his thirty-eight episode run.

Amodio’s total winnings fall just behind pro sports gambler James Holzhauer’s total winnings of $2,462,216; and the all-time Jeopardy! GOAT Ken Jennings, who took home a shocking total of $2,520,700 during his run.

While Amodio’s total winnings place Ahim in third place in total winnings, the champion places second in all-time consecutive wins on the long-running game show.

Amodio falls quite a few games short of Ken Jennings’s seventy-four-episode winning streak.

Matt Amodio’s successful run came to an end when he failed to correctly answer Monday’s Final Jeopardy! clue: “Nazi Germany annexed this nation and divided it into regions of the Alps and the Danube; the Allies later divided it into four sectors.”

Amodio answered, “What is Poland?”

However, the correct response was “What is Austria?”

“I’m still processing it,” said Monday’s Jeopardy! winner Jonathan Fisher after he bested the champ. “Matt is so good that it was just kind of an honor to be there with him.”

Amodio Feels Honored To Play On The ‘Jeopardy!’ Stage

“To see myself on this stage at all was an honor,” Matt Amodio said of his successful run on the hit game show. “And everything that’s happened since, I just can’t fathom.”

Of course, no Jeopardy! winning streak can come to an end without including the thoughts of the all-time champion.

“Matt is just such a fantastic player,” Ken Jennings says of Amodio.

“The one thing I admire more than anything else on Jeopardy! is consistency,” Jennings adds. “It’s so hard to come out and win day after day and week after week.”

Matt Amodio’s historic winning streak may officially be over. But, fans can expect to welcome him back onto the iconic game show’s stage again. The champion is still a top contender for the Jeopardy! Tournament of Champions.
