Mayim Bialik, “The Big Bang Theory” star turned “Jeopardy!” guest host, was nervous as her debut episode approached. Not long after it hit the airwaves, however, she mustered enough courage to ask Twitter what they thought about her performance. It’s a bold strategy. Let’s see how it paid off for her.
The immediate results are in, and it seems that “Jeopardy!” fans had a positive reaction to Bialik for the most part. That being said, asking the internet what it thinks about something is opening quite the can of worms. Fortunately, the replies were overwhelmingly supportive.
People were excited, to say the least. The replies were filled with responses from diehard “The Big Bang Theory” and “Jeopardy!” fans alike. And there was a consensus among them. Their feedback ranged from “you’re a natural” to “you’re hired.”
“My 90 y.o. mom watches Jeopardy faithfully every night…FOR YEARS. She never heard of you before so with no prior “fan bias crush” she commented what a lovely guest host you were tonight. She enjoyed your contribution tremendously,” wrote one user.
“Well CONGRATULATIONS on a job well done. You ROCKED it! If you were at all nervous, you certainly didn’t show it in any way. So happy for you and for us, the viewing audience. Looking forward to your next episode. BRAVO Mayim,” another added in support.
“Great job. My family watched you as Amy, and we watch Jeopardy. What great combination. You are, knowledge, grace, and a lot of wonderful energy. Keep up great work,” wrote another.
With Her Background, Mayim Bialik is a Natural Fit for ‘Jeopardy!’
Would you believe us if we told you Mayim Bialik has a Ph. D in neuroscience? “The Big Bang Theory” fans out there have probably learned that somewhere along the line, considering the character she plays has a neurobiology degree inspired by her real-life doctorate. But that thirst for knowledge is what “Jeopardy!” is all about. And with all of the time she’s spent on screen, she’s more than qualified to host a game show.
Not only is she qualified, but Bialik is also a self-professed lover of “Jeopardy!” And it begs the question, does she want the permanent hosting gig? It’s hard to imagine a better-qualified person for the job. LeVar Burton can stack up, given his years of educational TV programming and fan support. But otherwise, hopefuls like Aaron Rodgers may be outmatched.
Anything can happen over the next two weeks, so we shouldn’t get ahead of ourselves. But the search for Alex Trebek’s replacement is certainly heating up.
