Ah, Mondays. The scourge of 9-5 workers everywhere. Fortunately for those who call themselves “Jeopardy!” fans, Monday also means a new episode of the long-running game show.
And this week, we enter the second half of Mayim Bialik’s tenure as guest host. The “Jeopardy!” Instagram account posted a shot of a beaming Bialik, making the case that even Mondays can be fun with a little trivia action.
The neuroscientist and “The Big Bang Theory” star has been well received by the “Jeopardy!” faithful for her performance in the role. They have only Bialik’s eldest son to thank, who apparently talked her into taking the job in the first place. And though she was nervous about it leading up to her debut, it now appears that she’s a legitimate contender for the permanent job.
Mayim looks to be having a blast in the picture. She’s holding the cue card for Final Jeopardy and is dressed to impress. If only late host Alex Trebek could see her now. She’s certainly doing his legacy proud. And she’s living a dream at the same time.
“I will say that for me personally, and academically speaking, this is a really, really, really lovely place that I felt so comfortable, and was really honored to be part of it in any way. But obviously feel very strongly that if people find me tolerable, this is a dream job,” she told USA Today recently.
‘Jeopardy!’ Fans Chase Off the Monday Blues
Even unprompted, “Jeopardy!” fans can’t stop singing her praises. They’re trying their best to let the producers know how much they love Mayim Bialik as host of the show.
“She’s the best guest host yet… Either her or Leave Burton for permanent host!!” One fan wrote.
“After another great episode, I think she clearly needs to be the permanent host! She has great enthusiasm and really owns that stage,” another added.
“The search is over…. She lends SO much more than just her voice to this show/platform! Exactly what Alex would want,” someone commented.
The Search for Permanent Host Continues
As far as we know, the search for a permanent host to replace Alex Trebek is still underway. According to executive producer and former guest host Mike Richards, the decision will be made by late July or early August, at the latest.
It seems that with each new guest host, another name is thrown into the mix. There aren’t many options that people are particularly against. There are simply people who have gotten more support. One of the current favorites, LeVar Burton, hasn’t even had his turn yet.
It’s really anyone’s guess as to who will land the job at the moment. But rest assured, we’ll keep you posted on any updates here at Outsider.
