Mayim Bialik is still reeling from the news that she and executive producer Mike Richards will tag-team host future seasons of “Jeopardy!”.

The news broke on Wednesday, with the game show confirming that the two will take over for the late Alex Trebek. For 37 years, Trebek hosted “Jeopardy!” with compassion and poise. He, unfortunately, passed away of pancreatic cancer last November, leaving the game show in need of a permanent host.

Sixteen guest hosts stepped up to the plate to take their shot at running it, including Richards and Bialik. Per the game show’s announcement, Richards will take the lead on the daily syndicated episodes, while Bialik will host the primetime specials. She starts off with next year’s “‘Jeopardy!’ National College Championship” tournament, while Richards’ new episodes will premiere on Sept. 13.

Bialik has given and received lots of love on Twitter ever since the news broke. And last night, she shared more of her thoughts and thanks about the recent appointment. Including who she thought was for sure going to be the new host.

“Thank you, everybody! It’s been a very exciting and overwhelming day, but in a very good way,” Bialik said in a video on Twitter.

“I spoke to Mike Richards, who is my fellow host of ‘Jeopardy!’ now. That was really awesome to get to tell him how I thought all along that he was gonna be the host!” Bialik revealed.

That’s right, Outsiders. Even when fans speculated that “Jeopardy!” legend Ken Jennings would get the gig, or fan-favorite LeVar Burton, Bialik thought otherwise.

Few suspected that Richards would get the gig until Variety broke the news last week that he was in “advanced negotiations” with Sony Pictures Television. Some were ecstatic about the news, while others raised doubts. But it sounds like Sony’s decision to add Bialik to the team went a long way for fans.

“It was just really, really nice. It was a nice day of talking to all the big [wigs] and thanking everyone for negotiating on my behalf,” Bialik continued in her video. “So that I can continue to do ‘Call Me Kat’ and continue to do my podcast and all those things.”

Bialik starred in the Fox comedy “Call Me Kat” earlier this year, with more seasons coming.

“I’m in nature, seems like a good place to be, and that’s it!” Bialik concluded her video. “Thank you all, and I can’t wait to have more information about ‘Jeopardy!’ to come soon.”
