Get ready “Jeopardy!” fans – a new guest host is coming your way in a couple of days. And, that guest host is none other than NFL superstar Aaron Rodgers!

The show shared a preview of the Green Bay Packers quarterback’s upcoming stint on the famous quiz show via its Twitter account on Friday (April 2). “He’s a 3-time NFL MVP, a ‘Celebrity Jeopardy!’ Champ, and on Monday he takes over the ‘Jeopardy!’ lectern! Tune in April 5 as Aaron Rodgers takes center stage” the social media message said.

The tweet also includes a 30-second preview of what fans can expect from Rodgers’ appearance on “Jeopardy!” The video also includes comments from the quarterback. And, he talks about his love for the show and for its late host, Alex Trebek.

“Growing up it was my favorite show,” Rodgers says in the clip. “Other than the Super Bowl, this is the honor of a lifetime. Following in the footsteps of a legend (Trebek) is something I know a little bit about. …”

You can check out the tweet below.

With his “following in the footsteps of a legend” comment, Rodgers is obviously referring to taking over the reins of the Green Bay Packers from another legendary quarterback – Brett Favre.

Recently, Favre was asked to share his thoughts on Rodgers serving as guest host of the show. And, his comments were very positive. Favre also praised Trebek.

“I think he’ll do a great job. He’s very well-spoken and calm, cool, and collected,” Favre said of Rodgers on the “Pardon My Take” podcast. “… He’ll do a wonderful job. Now, will he be an Alex Trebek? I don’t know if there ever will be another Alex Trebek.”

Rodgers, Show Reveal the Charity That Will Benefit from His Time as Guest Host

Since the passing of host Alex Trebek in November 2020, “Jeopardy!” has relied on guest hosts to read clues and interact with contestants. According to the show’s website, previous guest hosts have included “Jeopardy!” champion Ken Jennings, the show’s executive producer Mike Richards, journalist Katie Couric, and Dr. Mehmet Oz.

As part of its plans to have guest hosts until a permanent host is selected, the show said that it will donate money to the guest host’s charity of choice. Rodgers has reportedly selected the North Valley Community Foundation in California as his charity. This organization provides grant funds to businesses and individuals in need in its community.

Aaron Rodgers will not be the last guest host of “Jeopardy!” Several other famous faces will soon stand behind the podium. The show’s website reports that the list includes news anchor Anderson Cooper, news anchor Savannah Guthrie, actress Mayim Bialik, “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, and CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta.
