“Jeopardy!,” like a lot of tabloids and celebrity magazines, recently featured actor Ben Affleck and singer Jennifer Lopez. The catch? The game show managed to do it before news broke of the celebrity couple reuniting.

On Friday night, a “Jeopardy!” episode aired that had been filmed weeks before. And it featured a clue about the celebrities (“As a couple, they were known as ‘Bennifer’”), Fox News reports. The answer, of course, is Affleck and Lopez.

Social media promptly lit up, with “Jeopardy!” fans marveling at the show’s prescience.

“Are they psychics???” one Twitter user wondered.

Lopez and Affleck Reunited After Lopez and Alex Rodriguez Split

Lopez and Affleck were once engaged. It’s been 17 years since the pair ended their engagement. But they quickly rekindled their romance after Lopez split from former baseball player Alex Rodriguez. Lopez and Rodriguez had been together for four years.

Rodriguez reportedly tried to work things out with Lopez last month, according to E! Online. However, around that same time, Affleck started showing up at her home in Los Angeles.

Then, in early May, both Affleck and Lopez attended the VAX LIVE concert in L.A. They went to the concert separately, but shortly thereafter, they flew off together to the Yellowstone Club in Montana. Then they spent the week together, according to E!.

“They have been in touch here and there throughout the years,” an unnamed source reportedly told E!. “Ben reached out to her to see how she was doing and they had dinner together a few times within this last month. It’s natural between them and the chemistry is unreal. They picked up where they last left off and are enjoying each other’s company right now.”

‘Jeopardy!’ Episode Features Eerie Coincidence

During the Double Jeopardy round of that same show, there was also a full category devoted to Montana. And it aired right as those two celebrities had just been enjoying each other’s company in the state. Coincidence? Probably. But two uncanny coincidences in one show suggest that at the very least, “Jeopardy!” has its finger on the pulse of pop culture.

Meanwhile, “Jeopardy!” is in the midst of its search for the permanent replacement for late host Alex Trebek. Trebek died on Nov. 8, 2020 of stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

“Jeopardy!” Executive Producer Mike Richards recently told the Wall Street Journal podcast “The Journal” that it will ultimately be up to Sony executives to pick Trebek’s replacement. But Richards said they’ll make the decision based on data – using “analytics,” Richards said, not their personal preferences.

Whoever the executives pick, Trebek’s successor will certainly have some big shoes to fill.
