If you’ve ever wondered what it feels like just before you host one of the nation’s most popular television game shows, Jeopardy! has you covered. The show released a video of guest host Mayim Bialik having a minor freak out just before she is to step out on stage.

“This is where I wait just before they introduce me,” she said in a video, standing backstage. “I get very emotional right here. It’s always very exciting. For every episode, I have a place where I keep my tea. … And when they say ‘And now,’ that’s when I walk out. This makes me nervous.”

The show doesn’t say when the video was taken, but considering Jeopardy! films multiple episodes a day, there isn’t much time to settle into the role.

Bialik is in her second and final week of guest-hosting, and judging by how nervous she is, it was likely a difficult decision for her to take the gig. But she said recently, her oldest son talked her into it, and she’s glad he did.

“As I start my second week of guest-hosting Jeopardy! I want to thank my 15-year-old, Miles,” she said Monday. “He was the one who first suggested I give this a try. And I hope I am making him, and his little brother Frederick, proud.”

Bialik will hand the show over to the TODAY show’s Savannah Guthrie on Monday. You can see the full schedule of upcoming guest hosts here.

Bialik Tied ‘Big Bang Theory’ to ‘Jeopardy!’

Mayim Bialik portrayed Amy Farrah Fowler on the wildly popular The Big Big Theory on CBS for several years. The character is partially based on her, as they both have Ph. D.s in neuroscience. Bialik earned hers from UCLA while the character in the show is a Harvard grad.

In a recent TikTok, Bialik shared a classic clip from the show, but with a twist. In the clip, Fowler, the long-suffering girlfriend and later wife of Sheldon Cooper, is forced to play his game “Fun with Flags.”

Bialik starts the video as if she’s a Jeopardy! contestant.

“I’ll take Big Bang Theory for $500,” the Jeopardy! guest host says.

Then she plays the video where she is forced to play “Fun with Flags,” an in-world game where Cooper obsesses over flags of the world. To earn points, Bialik’s character must know if the flag being shown is real or made-up.

It actually would translate well as a Jeopardy! category with a little tweaking.
