Roberts has been at the helm of the game show since earlier this week on Monday. Her one-week stint on the show lasted from July 19 to July 23, and is coming to an end with tonight’s episode. Next week, starting on Monday, Star Trek and Reading Rainbow star LeVar Burton will take over the podium.
But for now, Roberts is soaking in her experience on the popular game show one last time. She shared a heartfelt post on Twitter thanking the show, its contestants, viewers, and Trebek who passed away in November. Roberts says she appreciates the late iconic host and Jeopardy!‘s staff even more now.
Additionally, she thanked the viewers and contestants for helping raise money for her chosen charity. The Good Morning America anchor chose Be The Match as her favorite charity. The organization helps fight to cure blood cancers like leukemia and sickle cell.
The guest host retweeted Jeopardy!‘s post that shared a clip from the opening of tonight’s show. Once again she shared her appreciation for the game show and its longtime host.
“I had a great respect for Alex Trebek long before stepping in as a guest host,” Roberts said. “But having now been here for the week, it has exceeded what I thought of him. I began the week saying his spirit is still very present. And that’s because of all the people behind the scenes who carry on his legacy and love for you who watch and play.”
‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host Robin Roberts Thanks Contestants After Debut Episode
Today, Jeopardy! shared some of Robin Roberts‘ final thoughts about her experience on the game show. On Monday, they also shared some of her earliest thoughts following the completion of her debut episode.
During Monday’s episode, Roberts took over the reins of the game show for the first time. As her debut episode came to a close, cameras captured Roberts interacting with the three competitors. She graciously thanked the three contestants and was clearly still in disbelief that she had just finished hosting Jeopardy! for the first time. As the show finished, Roberts approached the contestants and addressed each of them.
“I hope you enjoyed yourselves,” Roberts said to the three contestants.
“Oh, you were awesome,” one contestant responded to the host.
“It was super fun,” another contestant added.
“You did great,” returning champion Joshua Saak said to Roberts.
“Oh, thank you, thank you, thank you. You are my newbies. There’s so few times in life you can say you’re doing something for the first time and I’ll remember all three of you. You were gentle with me and I appreciate that,” Roberts replied to the contestants.
