Eager for more brain teasers with ‘Jeopardy!’s all-time champ Ken Jennings? The interim host has his latest “Kennections” trivia puzzle up – and it’s a doozy!
“What do O. Henry, the London Underground, Australian bush ballads, and ape sex have in common?” the ‘Jeopardy!’ champion and interim host asks via Twitter. “Here’s a new “Kennections” trivia puzzle,” he offers, before sharing the link to his latest Mental Floss brain teaser.
This is no small ordeal, here, either. This latest trivia puzzle is #457 in Jennings’ long-running quiz series. Of it, the champ says “All five answers have something in common. Can you figure it out?”
Jennings’ latest quiz, however, seems to have stumped even the genius himself… More on that below.
In response to his tweet, follower Michael A. Krot points out an error in the affair.
“Ken, I love you buddy but the smallest ape is a gibbon,” says the Jennings fan of the ape-bound question. “Missed you on jeopardy btw!” he adds. Nice save, Mr. Krot. Nice save.
The question in question is even the first of the quiz. That’s got to sting for the “All Time Champ.”
Within, it reads: “What smallest apes, sometimes called pygmy chimpanzees, are the only other primates that mate face-to-face?”
Ken Jennings, ever the graceful contestant in life, responds to the error in kind. “You got me! Should have been ‘smallest great ape’,” the ‘Jeopardy!’ champ replies.
Ken Jennings To Pass On ‘Jeopardy!’ Hosting Torch to Show’s Producer
Despite this hiccup, Jennings will no doubt be remembered as the best to ever play the game – and an exceptional interim host in his mentor’s stead. To this end, ‘Jeopardy!’ producer Mike Richards gets candid about Ken Jennings’ continuation of Alex Trebek‘s legacy in our coverage of USA Today‘s interview.
Within, Richards opens up significantly – touching on everything from the show’s future to Jennings’ performance. As the next guest host himself, the trade asks Richards specifically if he feels “All Time Champ” Ken Jennings has done the show justice.
“It seems an impossible task to replace Alex the week after his final shows,” USA Today asks Richards. “But how do you think Ken did?”
“Ken did an amazing job; that’s why we picked him to do it,” the producer replies solidly.
In addition, Richards states that Jennings “did better than I thought, and my expectations were incredibly high. I think he was the perfect person to come onto the stage after Alex. Our fans, our staff and crew are all familiar with him. He came out, said the right things, was humbled by the situation, addressed the elephant in the room right away and said no one’s going to replace Alex, and they’re not. It’s a fool’s errand,” he adds. All in all, Mike Richards believes “Ken hosted the show as Ken,” which was absolutely the right call to follow up his mentor.
This still begs the big question, however. Who, exactly, will take over as the “new face” of “America’s Gameshow?” We break down the entire list as it stands, alongside Mike Richards’ opinions of each as “permanent” host candidates, in ‘Jeopardy!’: Producer Mike Richards Reveals Which Guest Hosts Are Competing to Follow Up Alex Trebek.
