‘Jeopardy!’ Upcoming Guest Host LeVar Burton Hilariously Travels to Central Park to ‘Finally Get a Hug’

In a funny tweet, upcoming Jeopardy! guest host LeVar Burton made a trip to central park to “finally get a hug.” Thing is, he just hugged a tree.

People love when Burton makes wholesome jokes.

“I can always count on you for a smile,” one Twitter user replied. His upcoming hosting stint on Jeopardy! Is highly anticipated.

Burton, who is best known for Star Trek and Reading Rainbow, is also known for his kindness, humor, and intellect. For many, he’d make the perfect candidate not only for a guest host but for a permanent host.

Burton was ‘Overjoyed’ about ‘Jeopardy!’ Guest Host Opportunity

“THANK YOU… to all y’all for your passionate support! I am overjoyed, excited, and eager to be guest-hosting Jeopardy!” he said in a tweet after Jeopardy! released its final group of guest hosts. “[I] will do my utmost best to live up to your faith you in me. YOU MADE A DIFFERENCE! Go ahead and take my word for it, this time.”

Fans wanted him on the show so much that they created multiple petitions. The biggest one reached over 200,000 signatures.

Especially due to his work on Reading Rainbow, many think Burton could make a fantastic permanent guest host for Jeopardy! Many children grew up watching Burton on Reading Rainbow. The incredibly wholesome show aimed to help children across the country learn vital reading skills and life lessons. Since then, Burton has been a huge advocate for literacy programs and education.

Some Jeopardy! guest-hosts haven’t gone on the show with the intention of auditioning. For Burton, that’s exactly what this is. He wants the gig full-time and has for a while now. He even gave Entertainment Weekly a list of reasons why he’d make a great host.

“Love of the franchise, check. Loves knowledge and curiosity, check. I spent 26 years talking directly to people through the camera lens, check. I bring an audience of Gen X-ers and millennials—checkmate!” he said.

Burton makes a great case, though he’s not the only one eyeing the job. Aaron Rodgers, who had a well-received stint as guest host, also really wants the position.

Only time will tell who will get the job. Right now, Jeopardy! fans can enjoy watching The Tournament of Champions unfold with guest host Buzzy Cohen.
