‘Jeopardy!’: Watch 2011 Contestant’s Hilariously Shameless Answer Embarrass Alex Trebek

Back in 2011, one Jeopardy! contestant’s shameless answer got a big laugh from the crowd and seemed to amusingly embarrass longtime host Alex Trebek.

Contestant Roger was firmly in the lead with $6,000 in earnings already in the first round. His fellow competitors Kara and Brian trailed behind him significantly with $2,600 and $2,400 respectively. Since Roger controlled the board, he chose one of the $600 categories. What ensued was peak Jeopardy! hilarity.

“If Andy yearns for Brenda & Brenda cares about Charlene who pines for Andy, the 3 of them form one of these,” Trebek said as he read the clue.

“What is a threesome?” Kara hilariously answered.

The crowd and Trebek couldn’t help but laugh at her answer before Roger buzzed in with the correct answer of “love triangle.” However, Trebek couldn’t let Kara’s blunder go unnoticed as he addressed the camera directly.

“Kara has obviously had much more experience than I,” Trebek brutally joked.

‘Jeopardy!’ Contestant Amusingly Fails Geography Questions in 2007

Kara isn’t the only Jeopardy! contestant that has struggled on the show. In fact, one contestant’s epic geography-related fails in 2007 should make her feel much better about her performance.

14 years ago, contestants Max, Kevin, and Erin were in a tight race early on in the first round. Max had $1,000, Kevin had $2,400, and Erin had $1,800 at the time. Then came “The Most Populous Nation” category and things started to fall apart for Max to the benefit of another competitor.

Starting with the $400 question in the category, Alex Trebek read aloud “Israel, Lebanon, Syria.” The competitors were given three countries and had to name the one with the highest population. Easy enough you’d think, but today was not Max’s day.

After Max buzzed in and answered incorrectly, Kevin swooped in to clean up. With only two options left and a 50/50 chance of answering correctly, Kevin stole the category, the $400, and continued to pick the same subject.

As you might expect, things got even worse for Max as the situation repeated itself over the final three clues of the category. Max buzzed in for the $600 clue, missed it, and Kevin jumped in with the correct answer. Rinse, repeat two more times.

By the third occurrence, the Jeopardy! crowd couldn’t help but laugh at the situation. After four wrong answers for Max, and four correct responses for Kevin, the game got a bit out of hand. Erin stayed put at $1,800. But Max plummeted to -$1,800 while Kevin’s earnings increased to $5,200. Max might just be the greatest assist man in Jeopardy! history.
