‘Jeopardy!’: What is Guest Host, Anchor Anderson Cooper’s Net Worth?

CNN anchor Anderson Cooper is one of the upcoming guest hosts of “Jeopardy!”, but he’s not doing it for the money. The cable news talking head already has an astronomical net worth.

In fact, Cooper’s CNN salary is somewhere in the neighborhood of $12 million. And his total net worth is around $200 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Cooper will guest-host “Jeopardy!” from April 19 to April 30. He follows Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and Dr. Memhet Oz. After Cooper, the next guest hosts will be actress Mayim Bialik, “60 Minutes” correspondent Bill Whitaker, Savannah Guthrie and CNN chief medical correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta.

‘Jeopardy!’ Gig Is a ‘Thrill’ for Cooper

Cooper said he has watched “Jeopardy!” for most of his life. And it was nerve-wracking enough just to be a contestant on “Jeopardy!”, which Cooper has been on four occasions. But hosting the show was another level of thrilling, he said.

“To be a contestant, I was so freaked out when I did that,” Cooper said in a recent “Jeopardy!” video. “And, you know, I’ve done it four times. I won twice. I lost really badly twice. It’s definitely better to win.”

“Just to be on ‘Jeopardy!’, whether as a contestant or guest host, is just – even in the audience – it’s just thrilling to watch, you know?” he went on. “When you’ve watched something your entire life, and you really enjoy it, and you really just feel a part of a larger kind of family and fan base, to suddenly be inside it is extraordinary. And I can’t believe I’m here.”

Cooper Had to Revisit His Stint As Contestant

On Thursday, Cooper appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” where host Jimmy Kimmel forced him to re-answer some of the questions he got wrong during his stint as a contestant on “Jeopardy!”.

Cooper got two of the three questions right. Kimmel told Cooper that if he hadn’t answered correctly, “Jeopardy!” producers were not going to allow him to guest host, according to The Wrap.

Cooper then told a self-deprecating anecdote about the time he went up against comedian and actor Cheech Marin, best known for the “Cheech & Chong” comedy act. Cooper got overconfident, he said, and he paid the price for it on that “Jeopardy!” episode.

“I was like, oh my God, this is going to be a cakewalk,” Cooper recounted. “I’ve seen ‘Cheech & Chong’ movies, the synapses can’t be firing that quickly. Turns out he’s the smartest guy, the quickest guy. He destroyed me. And do you know what it’s like to walk into the CNN newsroom the day after Cheech Marin has destroyed you on ‘Jeopardy’?”

Looks like Cooper will have a chance to redeem himself during his upcoming guest-hosting stint. Especially since Marin won’t be one of the contestants this time around.
