Jim Belushi and his wife, Jennifer Sloan, had previously sought a divorce in March of 2018. Last time, she was the one who filed for divorce, citing irreconcilable differences. But then the pair reconciled and filed to have the divorce case dismissed, the Daily Mail reports. The couple have two children together: daughter Jamison, 22, and son Jared, 19.
This will mark the third divorce for Belushi, 67. He married Sandra Davenport in 1980, only to divorce her in 1988, and then married Marjorie Bransfield in 1990, divorcing her in 1992. Davenport and Belushi have a son together, Robert James, 38.
Belushi and Sloan got married in May of 1998.
Jim Belushi Met Sloan the Year After His Divorce
Sloan, who has since become an actress but was at the time working as a jewelry store clerk, met Belushi the year after he divorced Bransfield. Back then, Belushi was enjoying life as a bachelor, he once told People, but his third marriage “softened me a lot,” he said.
“It used to freak me out when people asked, ‘Where do you see yourself in five years?’” Belushi added. “I had no vision. I was always about the work.”
On their first date, Sloan said, they didn’t exactly have instant chemistry. It wasn’t until later that she grew to like him.
“He kissed me on the forehead like I was his sister,” she told People. “A couple weeks later he asked me to go Rollerblading, and I liked him that day. He was real.”
In 2018, Sloan filed for divorce in Los Angeles County Superior Court on March 5, which was the 36-year anniversary of Belushi’s brother John’s death. When Belushi asked the court to dismiss the divorce because they had reconciled, it was on the eve of their 21st wedding anniversary.
Belushi Has Starred in Hit TV Shows, Movies
Over the course of a long acting career, Jim Belushi has starred in some hits. The “Saturday Night Live” alum’s best-known TV show was probably “According to Jim,” in which he played a sort of tough-guy everyman to Courtney Thorne-Smith’s often-exasperated wife and mother. The show ran from 2001 to 2009.
More recently, Belushi has appeared in “The Defenders” and “Show Me a Hero.” And in 2017, he guest-starred on “Twin Peaks.” He has a new show, “Salvage,” about an ex-cop who moves back to rural Florida and gets involved in a murder investigation.
Belushi’s movie credits include “Mr. Destiny,” “About Last Night,” “Little Shop of Horrors” and “The Ghost Writer.” He was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for his work on “SNL,” and he won Best Actor at the Malaga International Week of Fantastic Cinema for 1997’s “Retroactive,” per IMDb.
