Jimmy Buffett jokingly writes on Twitter about adding a new profession on top of his many other jobs. He hopes to excel as a freelance photographer after he’s seen snapping a picturesque shot while chilling on a beach in Hawaii.
Could Jimmy Buffett Become a Master Photographer?
Buffett is a famous singer, musician, actor, stage performer, owner of several hotels, a beer brewing meister, and the proprietor of his famous chain of restaurants named after his hit song.
It’s remarkable that he even has any extra time to be “wasting away in Margaritaville,” but he’s now tweeting that he’s going to become a freelance camera operator. His photography business may be added to his already lengthy resume.
Although his fans enjoy the legend’s newer music, Buffett enthusiasts, who are lovingly called “Parrotheads,” can’t get enough of his classics. You know when “Cheeseburger in Paradise” and “Margaritaville” start to be played at concerts, the crowds go wild.
The Musician Turned Entrepreneur
However, Jimmy Buffett is not just a renowned entertainer, he is an entrepreneur who has reached whole new heights when it comes to having his hands in a wide array of industries.
The 74-year-old has found extreme success in all that he does. It seems everything he touches turns to gold with his Midas touch. If he was to follow his Twitter caption then each time he picked up a camera, the photos would more than likely win several awards or “Best Photo of the Year.” Move over TIME magazine because here comes Jimmy.
Buffett owns a restaurant chain named after his No. 1 hit, “Margaritaville.” His restaurant is so successful that he has many locations sprawling from Nashville to Hawaii to Key West.
In 1999, the entrepreneur established his own record label called Mailboat Records. He then began to produce his own merchandise. Slowly but surely, the artist began booking an abundance of shows across the country and then began opening his own bars and restaurants.
Some of these even exist on the sea since Norwegian Cruise Line ships began carrying Margaritaville at Sea, 5 o’Clock Somewhere Bar, and LandShark Bar & Grill.
From “Margaritaville” to Multi-Millionaire
The man who started out as a tan, barefoot, hammock-laying, pot-smoking young man who was pretty much a “hippie,” is now making millions through all of his enterprises that began with a simple song.
If it’s 5 o’clock somewhere you can grab a LandShark Lager that is manufactured by Anheuser-Busch. The name of the breweries is Margaritaville Brewing Company.
He has trademarked Margaritaville Tequila, Margaritaville Footwear, and Margaritaville Foods, providing customers with a wide variety of foods. Some are simple enough to pop in the microwave for a quick and delicious meal.
The man never stops, and his empire is growing rapidly and earning a large profit. There are 11 Margaritaville hotels. Some of these even have casinos, which is hands-down one of the best ways to bring in an abundance of cash.
Buffett has even started reaching out to the older audiences by creating a brand new adult-living community called Latitude Margaritaville located in Daytona, FL.
He is continuing on to acquire football teams, releasing a video game, and becoming involved in a cannabis business called “Coral Reefer.”
Jimmy Buffett Takes Over the Entertainment Industry
He then had a special cameo where he played himself in the 2019 film Beach Bum. The movie is by the famous, yet niche director Harmony Korine. Matthew McConaughey is the lead actor of the film, and it’s not a surprise that the movie follows McConaughey’s “beach bum” character.
Buffet has a long list of appearances in both TV shows and movies. He even reached Broadway theaters with his 2018 musical Escape to Margaritaville.
The play receives positive reviews from critics and viewers. It pays tribute to those wonderful “Parrotheads” who sing along to the tunes. The musical is a light-hearted romantic comedy.
Of course, the music is the most important part. The pre-Broadway shows are touring the country and fans start wearing feathers on their heads. At the end of each show, beach balls began flying through the theaters.
He is now a cast-member on the new remake of the show Hawaii Five-O.
Jimmy Buffett has written songs for several popular films and TV series. These include “Fast Times at Ridgemont High,” “Urban Cowboy,” and the animated film “FernGully: The Last Rainforest.”
Everything Buffett Touches Turns to Gold
Jimmy Buffett’s hard work has paid off. In 2016 Forbes claimed Buffett was worth approximately $550 million.
If he truly wanted to become a photographer, I believe he’d find success in that field, too. However, I don’t believe the musician and businessman has time for that. Instead, he should keep relaxing on that beach and growing his brand.
