Music legend Jimmy Buffett is spending the coronavirus era along the coastline somewhere, taking in the beautiful scenery and waiting out the pandemic.
“#théglacé,” Buffet tweeted Sunday, alongside a picture of himself in a hat and shades beneath a clear blue sky sipping an icy beverage. “Thé glacé” is French for “iced tea.”
“#Theglace” has become a hashtag on Twitter and Instagram, with people posting artful photos of their tea drinks, mostly of the iced variety, and sometimes of themselves making or enjoying the drink, as well.
Jimmy Buffett Fans Take to Twitter
Buffett’s tweet swiftly drew enthusiastic replies from his fans. They bid him happy drinking, asked about meet and greets and summer tours, and speculated about the contents of his glass.
“Drink one for me yo pirate,” one Twitter user posted.
“Vaccines mean summer tour should happen?” another asked.
“You have progressed from the tin cup!” another quipped.
“The GOAT 🐐 drinking a screwdriver from a glacé!! #théglacé,” yet another replied.
Buffett Reschedules May Concert in Nashville
Earlier this month, Buffett decided to reschedule his May tour date in Nashville, per WSMV. Buffett’s Slack Tide Tour 2021 originally had included a concert at the Ascend Amphitheater on May 18. That tour date has been rescheduled to June 1, 2022.
According to Buffett’s website, his concert at Coastal Credit Union Music Park in Raleigh, North Carolina has also been rescheduled. It will now take place on April 23, 2022. And the stop at PNC Music Pavilion in Charlotte, North Carolina will now take place on April 30, 2022.
Buffett’s April concerts at the North Charleston Coliseum in North Charleston, South Carolina and the Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina have been cancelled.
In the meantime, Buffett has been keeping his musical chops sharp by playing online concerts for first responders. And he’s also launched a livestream series, the Nothin’ But Time Virtual Tour, available on nugs.net.
According to American Songwriter, the content of the livestream includes highlights from Buffett performances during the 1993 to 2019 time frame.
Looks like Buffett has been doing more than just kicking back with a glass of iced tea. But he seems to be enjoying that, too.
