Joe Exotic Talks Cancer Battle, Fight for Prison Release

Imprisoned Joe Exotic’s cancer is back, and he’s filing a motion for compassionate release.

The Tiger King’s Joe Exotic is currently serving a 22-year sentence in a Texas federal prison for violating wildlife laws and conspiring to murder Carole Baskin. But according to a recent social media post, Joe’s aggressive prostate cancer is back. And he hopes that the courts will allow him to seek treatment at home.

Back in May, Joe first announced that he was diagnosed with prostate cancer. And he was struggling to find proper treatment inside prison. Then in August, the scorned reality star feared the cancer has spread into his pelvis. However, it appeared that doctors managed to get the disease under control.

But today, Joe announced that he had a biopsy, and he learned that his “aggressive cancer” was back. Joe wrote a letter to his team and they shared his words on Instagram.

“Everyone, It is with a sad face that I have to tell you the doctors called me in today to break the news that my prostate biopsy came back with an aggressive cancer,” he wrote. “I am still waiting on the results from other test as well.”

Joe mentioned that Carol Baskin will “have her own party” once she hears the news. But he assures his fans that he’s not looking for ” anyone’s pity.” He only wants to battle his illness at home so he can seek proper care and spend time with his family.

“What I need is the world to be my voice to be released,” he continued. “They have the proof I DID NOT DO THIS! And there is no reason for the district attorney to drag this out, So I can go home and get treatment on my own or enjoy what life I have left with my loved ones! Say a prayer everyone & be my voice.”

Here’s Why Nicolas Cage’s Joe Exotic Series Canceled

Two months after the Netflix reality series The Tiger King hit screens, Amazon announced that it would produce a scripted series based on the star’s life. But 14 months later, the mega streamer canned the project.

The Tiger King followed the sordid lifestyle of Joe Exotic, an animal park owner who plotted to have his biggest competitor, Carole Baskin, murdered. The mini-series became an obsession for true-crime buffs. And because of that, Amazon studios picked up a scripted series starring Nicolas Cage that would follow the events in more detail.

But in July, Cage told Variety that the topic had lost steam during filming. And since Amazon believed that The Tiger King was “past tense” and “no longer relevant,” it scrapped the series.
