John Fogerty Throws It Back to Appearance on ‘The Ed Sullivan Show’ on This Day in 1969

Legendary rocker John Fogerty went back to the video vault and shared his 52-year-old Ed Sullivan performance in a quick clip.

Fogerty is in Durham, N.C., to perform with his band and called for fans to join him for the night. The former Creedence Clearwater Revival star heads to Macon, Ga. for a Wednesday show before going to Key West.

One Twitter fan praised John Fogerty’s old look, saying, “Enough good things can’t be said about your hair back then, perfect shaggy mix of short and long.”

CCR’s Second Appearance On Sullivan Show

According to the show’s website, John Fogerty’s band appeared on the show for the second time those 52 years ago. The first time, the legendary host had trouble pronouncing the band’s name.

This time, CCR performed two songs, “Fortunate Son” and “Down on the Corner,” off their newest album, “Willy and the Poor Boys.” The group notably played on “a rickety red wooden stage that looked like it came straight out of the Louisiana Bayou.”

After “Fortunate Son,” the website mentioned a paradoxical shift in mood as the band transitioned right into the rollicking good-time song “Down on the Corner.”

Three years after that performance, the band from El Cerrito, California, broke up.

Fogerty Sells Cali Mansion To Singer-Actress

According to the Realtor website, John Fogerty made some money on the sale of his Encino, Calif. estate. Musician-actress Hailee Steinfeld bought the house for $7.975 million.

Fogerty had bought the six-bedroom, eight-bathroom house in 2018 for $6.75 million. Built in 2016, the singer put it on the market in February for $9.995 million. Two adjustments later and the star had it at $8,495,000.

After the last discount, Steinfeld jumped at the price and got it for an even lower price. Steinfeld started her film career in the 2010 “True Grit” remake with Jeff Bridges, Matt Damon, and Josh Brolin. The actress will appear in the upcoming Disney+ series “Hawkeye” with “Mayor of Kingstown” star Jeremy Renner.

Reportedly, John Fogerty never moved into the house after putting a good bit of work into it. The 9,000-square-foot home has lots of dark-stained wood exterior and a two-story entryway.

The house has an open-concept layout, chandelier, and a formal living room with a floor-to-ceiling fireplace. There’s also a lounge and wet bar done in blue. The house also lots more to it, but know that the outdoors part has a water feature with a spa and outdoor kitchen.

Fogerty’s Florida Concerts For A Good Cause

After Key West, John Fogerty plays at Tampa, Estero, and Orlando. The shows will help support children of frontline and first-responders who died from COVID-19 while in the line of duty.
