John Travolta Pens Touching Tribute to Late Wife Kelly Preston on First Mother’s Day Since Her Death

Actor John Travolta spent his first Mother’s Day without his wife, actress Kelly Preston. He remembered her by writing a touching tribute.

Travolta shared a picture of him and Preston with their children. His short note is, well, short and sweet.

Take a look at what he posted to his Instagram account.

Preston died after a two-year battle with breast cancer on July 12, 2020, at 57 years old. She’d appeared in movies such as “Jerry Maguire,” “Twins,” and “For Love of the Game.”

Her illness had been kept out of the public eye, though. She and John Travolta married in two ceremonies, one done by a Scientologist minister in Paris and another in Florida in 1991.

The couple had three children, Jett, Ella Bleu, and Benjamin. Jett died on Jan. 2, 2009, after suffering a seizure. He was 16 years old.

John Travolta Admits That He’s Still Grieving Loss Of His Wife

Obviously, John Travolta displayed his love and affection for Preston in his Mother’s Day post.

Yet the actor recently opened up about his own journey through the grieving process.

“I have learned that mourning someone, mourning, is personal,” Travolta said in an interview with Esquire Spain. “Mourning is individual and experiencing your own journey is what can lead to healing.’

The interview with Travolta in Esquire Spain was excerpted in an article from The Daily Mail.

“This is different from someone else’s journey,” John Travolta said. “The most important thing you can do to help another when they are in mourning is to allow them to live it and not complicate it with yours. That’s my experience.”

Right now, the actor is simply taking time to be with his children Ella and Ben.

“I will ensure the future of my children, help them with what they want to do with their lives,” Travolta said. “It is what I do with Ella now with her films and teaching her to work in the profession. Ben is barely 10 years old. I want to help him evolve because he has his whole life ahead of him.”

The actor made a name for himself in the 1970s by playing Vinnie Barbarino on TV’s “Welcome Back, Kotter.” He also starred in movies like “Grease.” Yet his breakout role probably was as Tony Manero in 1977’s disco-influenced movie, “Saturday Night Fever.”

After a bit of a career downturn, Travolta again found himself in the midst of movie hits like “Pulp Fiction,” “Get Shorty,” and “Hairspray.”

The Englewood, N.J., native is 67 years old and looks to focus on helping his family right now.
