Country musician Jon Pardi has replaced rising star Morgan Wallen as a headliner for the Charleston Country Music Festival.
The festival runs from October 30 to October 31. It also features Riley Green, HARDY, Mitchell Tenpenny, Ashland Craft and Tyler Braden.
This year, the Charleston Country Music Festival is taking place at Exchange Park in Ladson, South Carolina to allow for social distancing measures. Concert organizers are requiring face masks and cashless monetary transactions, according to the festival’s website.
The news follows the announcement earlier this month that Saturday Night Live had removed Wallen from his debut slot. SNL opted to replace him as their musical guest after photos and videos surfaced of Wallen partying maskless near the University of Alabama.
“I’d like to apologize to SNL, to my fans, to my team for bringing me these opportunities, and I let them down,” Wallen said in an Instagram message to his fans. “And, on a more personal note, I think I have some growing up to do. You know, I think I’ve lost myself a little bit. I’ve tried to find joy in the wrong places, and, I don’t know, it’s left me with less joy.”
Further, this May, Nashville police arrested Wallen for disorderly conduct at Kid Rock’s Big Ass Honky Tonk Rock N’ Roll Steakhouse. They also charged him with public intoxication. A police report obtained by WSMV said Wallen was kicking glass items inside the bar. He reportedly had a strong smell of alcohol and refused an opportunity to leave.
Wallen explained the incident as “horse-playing” with “a few old friends,” Fox News reported.
