Nicolas Cage, one of the most popular movie stars of the last four decades, recently suffered a very personal loss. His mother, Joy Vogelsang, has passed away.
Christopher shared that his mother passed away at 10:33 p.m. on that day. He described his mother’s life as one that was a “very hard life with mental health issues.” Despite her personal problems, Christopher still found his mother to be an important source of wisdom. He wrote that she “still managed to teach me something super important.”
“I learned from my mama what ‘affection’ really means,” Christopher also posted. “I believe only a mama can truly teach that. It’s not love thy neighbor. It’s smaller yet bigger. Shake one’s hand with tenderness and meaning. Don’t let your mind wonder while you hug someone. And, and your kiss should definitely be sincere and in the moment…if it is not, well, that adds to hell on earth.”

The famous actor also went into detail about what it was like to live with his mother.
“She would say the most amazing things, beautiful but scary. I’m sure they had an impact on me. If I look at home movies of when I was 2 years old, I see that she was a very caring mother – the way she touched me. …” Cage said.
He also said that his mother did recover from her struggles.
“She’s fine now, but much time was lost,” he shared.
