“Rock out” with us to the English trailer for “Earwig and the Witch”, featuring Kacey Musgraves‘ cover of the theme song, “Don’t Disturb Me.”
Fans of Kacey Musgraves will be thrilled to know the country star is onboard the latest film from legendary Japanese animator, Studio Ghibli.
Ghibli, known for masterworks like Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke, and Howl’s Moving Castle, is renowned the world over for what many critics regard as the finest animated features ever put to film. Now, the studio moves into 3D computer animation for the first time with Earwig and the Witch, and country music’s Kacey Musgraves is onboard to co-star in the English dub!
Based on the novel of the same name by Diana Wynne Jones, Earwig tells the tale of a young British orphan. The orphan, Earwig, “has no idea that her mother had magical powers”. For English audiences, Earwig’s mother is brought to life – in both speaking and singing roles – by none other than Kacey Musgraves.
As for Earwig’s journey, “her life changes dramatically when a strange couple takes her in, and she [must] live with a selfish witch,” the film’s official website adds. In addition, “the headstrong young girl sets out to uncover the secrets of her new guardians”. As she does, she also “discovers a world of spells and potions. And a mysterious song that may be the key to finding the family she has always wanted.”
