Kate Beckinsale, known for her role as Selene in the Underworld series, shared an update on her condition on Instagram recently. The actress had to be rushed to the hospital in Las Vegas after her back gave out over the weekend. She captioned her post, “Feeling a lot better. Thank you so much for your kind messages and love x.”

According to TMZ, Beckinsale was in The Signature at MGM Grand when the incident occurred; it is believed the injury did not happen during filming for Beckinsale’s new film Prisoner’s Daughter.

There was an outpouring of love from friends and fans after Beckinsale posted the photo of herself in a hospital bed. The photo features a look at her ID bracelet and the IV in her arm. Sarah Silverman commented, “Oh my gosh! Friend!” while Andie MacDowell wrote, “Oh dear I’m just catching up I hope everything’s OK.”

The last time Kate Beckinsale was in the hospital–for a ruptured cyst in 2019–she updated her friends and fans in real-time as soon as she was able. We will most likely get updates from Beckinsale on her condition as they occur, but for now it seems like she’s doing much better.

Kate Beckinsale’s New Film

Before her back went out, Kate Beckinsale went to Las Vegas to shoot the new film Prisoner’s Daughter. The film follows “tough but proud” ex-convict Max, played by Brian Cox, as he tries to reconcile and reconnect with his daughter Maxine (Beckinsale) and his grandson Ezra. Tyson Ritter is also connected to the film; the singer-songwriter turned actor plays Maxine’s ex-husband fighting to connect with his son.

Catherine Hardwicke, who directed Twilight, is attached as director; Mark Bacci, who wrote for Real Detective and Northern Rescue, wrote Prisoner’s Daughter.

Kate Beckinsale first starting acting as a child in 1975, in the show Couples. She didn’t act again until the 90s, where she played a bit part on the TV mini-series Devices and Desires. She gained notoriety for playing Selene in Underworld, and went on to do 4 more Underworld films. In 2014 and 2017 she also lent her voice to Queen Ayrenn in the video game Elder Scrolls Online.

Recently, Beckinsale was in Jolt, which follows Lindy Lewis, a woman with an intermittent explosive disorder. She wears a vest to suppress her symptoms, but while she’s running around trying to find who killed the man she just went on date with the night before, her vest starts to malfunction and fail. She was also in the first episode of the upcoming show Guilty Party, as well as the film El Tonto. Charlie Day’s directorial debut, El Tonto follows a silent character who “becomes an accidental celebrity only to lose it all.”
