The third and final season of the hit Netflix series “Dead to Me” is right around the corner. And besides what promises to be a wild ride, fans will have the opportunity to see “Married… with Children” co-stars Christina Applegate and Katey Sagal reunited on screen once more.
Of course, they came close when Sagal made her debut appearance in Season 2 as Judy Hale’s (Linda Cardellini) mom. But in Season 3, Applegate and Sagal are actually going to perform together. And the “Married… with Children” star couldn’t be more excited to act with her former on-screen daughter once again.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sagal talked about the prospect of working with Applegate in the upcoming and final season of “Dead to Me.”
“This season, I actually work with Christina. When I was on last season, I was Linda Cardellini’s mom and you just saw me in prison. In fact, Christina called me up, I was just over at her house a couple of weeks ago, and we were so excited,” Sagal said.
Fans of “Married… with Children” will know the pair’s former dynamic well. Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate played Peggy and Kelly Bundy respectively from 1987 to 1997. Over the course of 260 episodes, the two actresses grew close and developed a relationship that almost mirrored the mother-daughter depiction in the show.
Katey Sagal and Christina Applegate’s Relationship
67-year old Katey Sagal has enjoyed a prolific acting career and continues to work consistently to this day. Her most iconic role, however, came on “Married… with Children.” It also happened to be the show that made Christina Applegate a household name.
As a result of the decade they spent working on the show together, their characters’ relationship has rubbed off on them a bit.
“We have a couple of big scenes together, so that will be really fun,” she continues. “She is truly like my daughter. Like for real. So this will be really lovely to be with her,” Sagal continued in her interview.
In fact, it wasn’t just Applegate with whom Katey Sagal shared a special bond. She raved about how great the entire cast was together.
“We just got on great, so that was fantastic. The original pilot had two different kids. Then when we got picked up, they replaced them with Chris (Applegate) and David (Faustino) and that was instant chemistry. The whole thing clicked. We were all kinda a bunch of little outcasts,” Sagal said.
Indeed, it’s hard to keep a show going for 10 years without building a strong connection with co-workers. Now, fans get to see Applegate and Sagal back together again. Although, Sagal isn’t playing Applegate’s mom this time around. At present, it looks like Season 3 of “Dead to Me” will premiere sometime in late 2021.
