Fans of “Married… With Children” are about to see an on-screen reunion between Katey Sagal and her former castmate from the classic ’90s sitcom.
Sagal will make an appearance on the next season of the Netflix original series “Dead to Me.” She first made a cameo in the show’s second season as Judy’s (Linda Cardellini) mother. During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Sagal confirmed that she and her former co-star, Christina Applegate, will again share the screen in season three.
During their time together on “Married… With Children,” Sagal played Applegate’s mother on the show.
During the interview, Sagal confessed that she is delighted to be working with Applegate again on “Dead to Me” season three. When she appeared in season two, she didn’t get to work in person with Applegate, which she was disappointed about.
“This season, I actually work with Christina. When I was on last season, I was Linda Cardellini’s mom and you just saw me in prison,” she said about her experience last season. “In fact, Christina called me up, I was just over at her house a couple of weeks ago, and we were so excited.”
Reportedly, Sagal and Applegate have both seen the scripts but have not yet begun shooting together.
“We have a couple of big scenes together, so that will be really fun. She is truly like my daughter. Like for real. So this will be really lovely to be with her.”
Katey Sagal Reunites With ‘Married… With Children’ On-Screen Daughter
On “Married… With Children,” Christina Applegate played Kelly Bundy, and Katey Sagal played her mother, Peggy Bundy. The show was shooting new episodes from 1987 to 1997. According to Sagal, she often fondly looks back on those days. “We just got on great, so that was fantastic,” she said.
“The original pilot had two different kids,” Sagal said. “Then when we got picked up, they replaced them with Chris and David and that was instant chemistry. The whole thing clicked. We were all kinda a bunch of little outcasts.”
As for one of her fondest memories from the sitcom, there’s one Sagal will never forget. “I always remember the one where Santa Claus fell through the roof and we were all sitting on the couch. And if you ever watch it, you’ll see us all on the couch trying not to laugh. It’s that whole Carol Burnett thing where you’re trying not to laugh. We could barely get through it.”
Switching roles in “Dead to Me,” Sagal plays a much less well-rounded parent, but that doesn’t take away from this “Married… With Children” reunion.
The show is currently in production. However, at this time, there is no release date in place yet. You can catch up on the first two seasons of “Dead to Me” on Netflix.
