Kathy Griffin Lands New Role Days After Major Surgery for Lung Cancer

While concerns about her health must be at the forefront of comedian Kathy Griffin’s mind these days, she recently received some very good news regarding her career.

According to Variety, the 60-year-old actress will have a recurring role in the HBO Max series “Search Party.” Griffin has been cast as the character Liquorice Montague in “Search Party.”

Griffin’s character is described as a conspiracy theorist. She is also said to be closely connected to Chantal.

Playing Chantal is actress Clare McNulty. McNulty is a “co-dependent apprentice” to the character played by Kathy Griffin.

The people behind the “Search Party” series said they are very excited to have Kathy Griffin join the cast.

“Working with Kathy was a huge life moment for us. She brought so much warmth, humanity and professionalism to set, and delivered a performance that will delight the world.”

This message was shared by the “Search Party” series showrunners. They are Sarah-Violet Bliss and Charles Rogers.

Kathy Griffin brings many acting credits with her as she appears on “Search Party.”

Some of these credits included the Netflix production “You.” She has also been a voice actor on a revival of “Crank Yankers.”

Griffin also made appearances in such famous television series as “Seinfeld,” “Glee,” “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” and “Suddenly Susan.”

Kathy Griffin Has Had a Variety of Roles During Her Acting, Comedy Career

Griffin has also made appearances in television shows where she played herself. She did play herself in the series “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List.” She also had a talk show “Kathy.” She has also been a host of the CNN New Year’s Eve Special for many years. That special has also featured the famous television journalist Anderson Cooper.

Kathy Griffin has also had success as a stand-up comedian. Some of her tours include titles such as “Laugh Your Head Off,” “Kathy Griffin: A Hell of a Story,” “Tired Hooker,” “She’ll Cut a B****,” and “Straight to Hell.”

Griffin’s “Laugh Your Head Off” made reference to her very controversial photo of her holding the fake head of former United States President Donald Trump. That photo was so shocking that the Secret Service investigated it.

Griffin is also a popular author and her books have been successful. Griffin’s titles include “Official Book Club Selection: A Memoir According to Kathy Griffin” and “Kathy Griffin’s Celebrity Run-Ins: My A-Z Index.”

Griffin Recently Announced That She Is Battling Lung Cancer

As her fans are aware, Kathy Griffin recently shared news of her lung cancer diagnosis.

As part of her treatment, the comedic actress underwent surgery. Fortunately, that surgery was successful. That surgery included the removal of part of her left lung.

Despite this health scare, Griffin is hopeful that she will make a full recovery.

“The doctors are very optimistic as it is stage one and contained to my left lung. Hopefully, no chemo or radiation after this and I should have normal function with my breathing. I should be up and running as usual in a month or less,” Griffin shared.
