Keanu Reeves Teases Insane ‘John Wick 4’ Opening Scene

John Wick set a new bar for action movies with his over-the-top fights and big set pieces. John Wick 2 topped it, and they did it again in 3. Star Keanu Reeves says the fourth installment in the series will carry on that tradition of one-upmanship with a high horse-power opening.

John Wick 4 will premiere in May 2022. Producers had hoped to release the film this year, but pushed it back because of the pandemic and Keanu Reeve’s shooting schedule on the next Matrix movie. The production team used that extra time to game plan new stunts. We don’t know much about what’s in store for the new film. We don’t even know the name of the movie. Though, wrap gifts given to the crew say John Wick: Hagakure. The Hagakure is the “Book of the Samurai” that was written two hundred years ago.

But Reeves gave fans a morsel of what’s to come for the franchise in a recent cover story for Esquire.

“There’s a sequence — hopefully, knock on wood … in John Wick 4, the opening sequence,” he said. “John Wick is back in the desert on a horse. I’m going to hopefully be able to fast-gallop and run.”

When Reeves finished up speaking with Ryan D’Agostino for Esquire, he was going to meet a horse trainer to help him perfect the stunt.

John Wick 4 promises exotic locales and heavy action. Most of the movie was filmed in Germany and Japan, leaving behind the hitman’s home in New York City.

Keanu Reeves Gifts ‘John Wick’ Stunt Team with Rolexes

Keanu Reeves was a star long before he slipped on the suit to seek vengence for his murdered puppy in John Wick. But the series has undoubtedly elevated his profile in recent years. And the internet boyfriend’s knows the stunt team in the series has a lot to do with the success of the films.

To thank them for their hard work, he gifted the team with Rolex Submariner watches, TMZ reported recently. He had each watch engraved with the recipient’s name, and “Thank you Keanu JW4 2021.”

According to Rolex, the watches sell for about $10,000 each. It’s just another piece for the “Nice Guy Keanu” legend he’s cultivated for the past few decades in Hollywood. For instance, he has a foundation that anonymously gives money to children’s hospitals. He goes out of his way to keep his name off of it.

“I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years. It helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research,” Reeves told the Ladies Home Journal in 2009. “I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does.”
