Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton’s Friendship Updated Amid Her Divorce in New Report: ‘Extremely Close’

Most people can’t stay friends with their ex-husband’s client after a messy divorce. But then again, Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson aren’t most people. The former The Voice co-judges have grown close over the years thanks to her ex-husband’s position as the manager of Shelton’s music career.

However, now that Brandon Blackstock a part of Clarkson’s life, it wouldn’t be surprising if the two singers’ relationship started to dwindle. After all, no one wants to risk running into their ex while seeing a friend. That’s an awkward situation for everyone.

Recently, Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock have spent much of their free time in courtrooms. Like any other celebrity divorce, the subject of the current affair is money. Previous verdicts determined that Clarkson has to pay her ex nearly $200,000 every month in spousal and child support. The most recent matter in question, though, has to do with the land, called Vintage Valley, that the couple purchased back in 2019. Blackstock now lives on Vintage Valley and has changed from a managerial career to an agricultural one.

Since the official filing, the two friends haven’t engaged in Twitter fights or nasty interviews about the other person. Instead of giving in to the drama, though, Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton aren’t letting their individual relationships with Blackstock affect their own friendship.

According to Us Weekly, “Blake and Kelly are extremely close,” a source close to the stars claimed. “Their friendship and bond goes beyond the business.”

Blake Shelton Had a Hand in Kelly Clarkson’s Relationship with Brandon Blackstock

Back before Kelly Clarkson became a single mother and Brandon Blackstock became a full-time rancher, they seemed like a promising young couple. At least, that’s what her good friend Blake Shelton thought. When Clarkson and Blackstock were dating, Shelton whole-heartedly believed his music manager needed to put a ring on her finger–and fast.

Perhaps he worried his friend would walk away from Blackstock. Or maybe he thought Blackstock wasn’t taking his relationship seriously enough. Whatever the case, in 2012, Shelton fervently encouraged his manager to propose to Clarkson.

“I told Brandon, ‘Man, you need to grow up and you figure out that you need to marry this girl,’” Shelton told Hollyscoop.

In fact, Shelton had so much faith in Kelly Clarkson and Brandon Blackstock’s relationship that he was willing to do just about anything for the two to tie the knot.

“I am going on the record saying, I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I’ll be that guy … cause you need to get your head out of your ass and ask that girl to marry you.”

Clarkson and Blackstock may not be together anymore, but Shelton is still as loyal and supportive he always was to both of his friends.
