Kelsea Ballerini Reveals Taylor Swift ‘Evermore’ Song That She ‘Can’t Even Handle’

Kelsea Ballerini shares her thoughts on Taylor Swift’s new Album.

Taylor Swift released her second surprise album of the year, Evermore, on Thursday night. And it has taken less than a day for fans, including singer/songwriter Kelsea Ballerini, to start weighing in. Ballerini released a Tweet saying that she “can’t even handle” how much she loves Swift’s new song, “No Body, No Crime.”

Taylor Swift teams up with the band Haim for the song. Haim consists of sisters Este, Danielle, and Alana Haim who have been longtime friends with Swift. The song is about a group of women who avenge the murder of a friend. The friend is killed after confronting her cheating boyfriend.

What Inspired Taylor Swift’s “Murder Mystery” Song?

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Swift shared what inspired the idea and how she decided to collaborate with Haim.

“Working with the Haim sisters on ‘No Body, No Crime’ was pretty hilarious. Because it came about after I wrote a pretty dark murder mystery song and had named the character Este. Because she’s the friend I have who would be stoked to be in a song like that,” said Swift. “I had finished the song and was nailing down some lyric details and texted her, ‘You’re not going to understand this text for a few days but… which chain restaurant do you like best?’ and I named a few.”

Taylor Swift said that Este chose Olive Garden. “A few days later I sent her the song and asked if they would sing on it. It was an immediate ‘YES,’” said Swift. The name of the Italian chain restaurant appears in the lyrics, “Este wasn’t there/ Tuesday night at Olive Garden.”

Swift and the Haim sisters have toured together and been friends for years, but they’ve never created a song together. “We can’t figure out why we hadn’t collaborated sooner,” said Swift. “We’ve toured together, played live together, choreographed dances like we’re at summer camp. But it took a song about avenging your friend’s murder to give us the idea to take this set,” said Swift. Swift then joked, “Long story short, I’m the 4th Haim sister now, confirmed.”
