It turned out to be as successful as he is at trivia. It killed more people than the plague.
He followed that with a second headline from the game. “Ken Jennings has not been noticed,” the tweet read.
“Well this is almost worse,” he joked.
It’s the second time that a Jennings tweet went viral. The Jeopardy! champ started a conversation after he took issue with a familiar and popular song.
“The ‘Friends’ theme rests on the assumption that the current year being ‘your year’ is a lesser and more common achievement than having your day, week, or month. In this thread, I will demonstrate 1/148,” Jennings tweeted.
Andy Knapp (@DarthKnapp) replied. “The song also tells you that ‘So no one told you life was gonna be this way’ and that ‘Your mother warned you there’d be days like these.’ So which one is it?”
Meanwhile, @phillyphan593 chimed in with his two cents. “And really the assumption that you actually want to get out of second gear. Some people prefer to take things slow!”
But that’s not to say all of Jennings’ social media posts have been as well received.
Ken Jennings calls out Tom Brady
Buccaneers quarterback and seven-time Super Bowl winner Tom Brady is probably the greatest quarterback of all time. But after fantasy analyst Matt Berry asked if he was the greatest in all sports, Ken Jennings took issue.
“Look, we’re all thinking it: this all hinges on whether or not Jeopardy! counts as a sport,” he replied.
Fans took issue with that tweet. Although in Jennings defense, he literally has a trophy that reads “Greatest of All Time” on it. He went on an incredible 74-game winning streak in 2004, netting him over two-and-a-half million dollars. There’s no doubt that if Jeopardy! was a sport, Jennings may very well be the GOAT.
It’s one of the reasons he was chosen as interim host of the popular quiz show. However, Jennings’ run as interim Jeopardy! host will come to an end on Feb. 22. Producers haven’t named a full-time replacement for Alex Trebek, who died last year. Though they’re expected to announce one in the spring, it’s being reported.
