Actress Kirstie Alley is taking cable network CNN to task over what she argues are scare tactics about the coronavirus pandemic.

Alley vs. CNN

This Thursday, Alley tweeted, “I now know why my personal friends who walk around in SHEER TERROR of contracting Covid are simply CNN viewers! I decided to watch CNN myself to get a their viewpoint and oh my God DID I EVER!!!! IF YOU TOO WANT TO LIVE IN TERROR WATCH CNN!! FEAR OF DYING IS THEIR MANTRA! OMG!”

Then, on Oct. 30, CNN Communications replied to Alley’s tweet with a snide comeback. “Kirstie, you are welcome to change the channel,” @CNNPR tweeted, “just like countless viewers did every time ‘Veronica’s Closet’ came on TV. But don’t downplay the loss of nearly 230K American lives. And please, wear a mask.”

Alley promptly fired back with a pair of tweets. “Meow…” she said in one. “If only you paid as much attention to Joe Biden’s alleged corrupt business dealings as a TV show that was rated top ten in 1997.”

Alley followed that up with, “Find ONE tweet I’ve tweeted to encourage people NOT to wear masks or NOT be careful or that has said anything disrespectful about sick people or those who have died… there isn’t one. THIS is how FAKE information spreads.”

Different Parties, Different Concerns

Alley did not specify which aspect of CNN’s coverage she felt was promulgating terror.

The Associated Press reports that a sudden surge in coronavirus cases is sweeping the country, and that brings different concerns for each political party. Republicans are trying to tamp down fears that voters will stay home, because they’re counting on Election Day votes and need people to turn out at polling places, the AP said. Democrats have pushed mail-in voting to their voters.

Alley has endorsed President Trump and said she can’t wait for the election to be over.
