Broadcasting legend Larry King spent the week of his 87th birthday in the hospital. Luckily, he says he feels better now after a few extra nights in the hospital. He hoped to leave the hospital on Friday, but the doctors decided to keep him for another night or two for good measure.
According to Page Six, King entered the hospital dealing with “heart issues and other things,” mainly regarding a blood flow issue. Hopefully, Larry King will go home either tonight or sometime tomorrow.
Larry King Past Health Issues
This isn’t the first time Larry King has dealt with serious health issues. In 1987, King suffered his first major heart attack at 54 years old. In March of 2019, he suffered from a stroke that left him in a coma for a brief stint. That same year, he underwent a scheduled angioplasty. As soon as he left the hospital, King went back to business as usual hosting his Hulu show, Politicking with Larry King.
“I had what they call a slight stroke in March. Everything is back to normal, except for my left foot. I can’t walk on my left foot, so I’m walking with a walker,” King told Page Six almost a year ago. “It’s making me feel old.” The whole ordeal in March was quite terrifying for King. Doctors believed that he would die in that coma.
“It was really touch-and-go,” he said. “I had a new stent put on the heart. It’s been amazing – everyone tells me they can’t believe I made it through.”
Larry King, unfortunately, shared his health issues with his children. On July 28 of this year, his son Andy died of a heart attack at 65 years old. Weeks later, his daughter Chaia died after a long battle with lung cancer. She was only 51 years old.
