From delicious combinations such as chocolate and peanut butter to timeless pairs like Bert and Ernie, there are certainly some timeless pairs. For some “Law & Order” fans, one of the greatest pairs is one that we have missed for about a decade.
When Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni) and Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) first hit the streets of New York as “Special Victims Unit” detectives over twenty years ago, a great pair was born.
Recently, Christopher Meloni seemed to question a photo featuring his former on-screen partner goofing around with one of the “Law & Order” franchises newest detectives.
In a June 18 Tweet, Dylan McDermott posted a photo of himself and Meloni’s former costar Mariska Hargitay goofing around. In the photo, Hargitay is posing with a “bombshell” expression holding a piece of McDermott’s pants, which appear to be ripped. Not long after McDermott shared the flirty photo, Meloni retweeted the pic with the caption, “WTF?!”
It’s fairly clear that Meloni is having a bit of fun. Now with his own show in “Law & Order: Organized Crime” he’s a bit busy to be the opposite of Hargitay.
From the looks of things, it seems the photo was taken during the filming of a recent “Law & Order” episode.
“Law and Order” Partners Will Always Be A Fan-Favorite
For over a decade, fans of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit,” grew to love Meloni and Hargitay’s on-screen duo. However, in 2011, Elliot Stabler and Olivia Benson’s partnership embed when Meloni left the show.
Last spring, however, series fans were delighted to see the return of one of television’s favorite detectives when Elliot Stabler appeared in a special episode of “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.” The episode saw the duo reconnecting as Stabler faces a devastating loss.
This appearance introduced the “Law & Order” franchise’s newest installment “Law & Order: Organized Crime,” which stars Christopher Meloni and Dylan McDermott.
Stabler and Benson Always Have Each Other’s Backs
In the new series, McDermott plays mob boss Richard Wheatly. McDermott and Meloni’s characters go head-to-head in the NBC drama.
In the drama’s first-season finale, McDermott’s character is looking for revenge. He soon finds the best way to get to Elliot Stabler is through his former partner, Olivia Benson. It is clear the mobster knows how important Olivia is to Stabler.
Ultimately the trio finds themselves in a finale-fitting stand-off. Which is likely where the photo originated.
