“Law & Order: Organized Crime” is coming back for more crime, death, and drama, and it’s bringing along some exciting new cast members for the ride.
The spin-off series started with its very first season on April 1, 2021. It quickly became one of the most popular rookie series on TV. The show is led by former “Law & Order: SVU” star Christopher Meloni. He is reprising his role as Elliot Stabler after about a decade away.
The show is different from others under the “Law & Order” umbrella. Instead of a different issue each episode, “Organized Crime” follows a single-arc storyline that extends the entire season. Season two will be 24 episodes of drama, suspense, and all new faces. It’s going to premiere on September 23.
According to Deadline, as for new faces, expect both Ron Cephas Jones and Vinnie Jones to appear on your TV screen in a couple of months. Ron Cephas Jones is an Emmy-winning actor most known for his role in the emotional TV series, “This Is Us.” Vinnie Jones is known for his role in “The Big Ugly.”
Both actors are signed on for recurring roles. They will appear alongside returning cast members like Meloni, Danielle Moné Truitt, Tamara Taylor, and Ainsley Seiger. The ultimate villain from last season, played by Dylan McDermott, will have a role in the second season as well.
Cephas Jones is going to play Congressman Leon Kilbride. He is a politician with a wide array of connections. Apparently, he always knows home to “play his cards right.” Jones will play Albi Briscu. He is an Eastern European gangster. Briscu happens to be the very last remaining member of his gang that resided in his old country.
New and Old ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Characters
Cephas Jones has been making TV history and will bring that success to season two. He earned two Outstanding Guest Star Emmy awards for his work on “This Is Us.” He is also in “Lisey’s Story” opposite of Julianne Moore and “Truth Be Told” with Octavia Spencer. He’s also going to make an appearance in the Broadway production, “Clyde’s.”
Vinnie Jones has been in over 45 films. Some of these roles include the “X-Men” franchise, “Snatch,” “The Midnight Meat Train,” and “Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels.” He’s also made appearances in TV shows like “Arrow,” “Deception,” “Galavant,” and “Elementary.”
Both actors are huge wins for “Law & Order: Organized Crime” and will likely bring in their own fan following.
Fans also are excited to see Dylan McDermott back again. He was originally signed on as a series regular, but only with a one-year deal. His character was so popular that the show’s executives went into negotiations to get him back. He is supposedly appearing in eight episodes of season two in what Deadline called “one of the most lucrative guest-star deals on network television.”
By the looks of it, “Law & Order: Organized Crime” is going to mix in some of the old with some of the new.
