‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’: Beloved ‘SVU’ Guest Star, Close Relative of Elliot Stabler to Appear in Season 2

Law & Order: Organized Crime is getting an SVU star on board for Season 2.

Deadline announced that Ellen Burstyn will return to the franchise. She famously portrayed Elliot Stabler (Chris Meloni)’s mother, Bernadette Stabler. Over a decade ago, she guest starred on the show in the “Swing” episode. Her role earned her an Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. She will not be in the premiere episode but rather later in the season.

The major news follows other casting additions to Season 2. Ron Cephas Jones has been confirmed to join the cast. He will portray Congressman Leon Kilbride. His character is described as “a born politician who fosters connections and always plays his cards right.”

Additionally, Vinnie Jones was added to the cast. He will portray Albi Briscu. His character is said to be an “Eastern European gangster who is the last remaining member of the organization from the old country.”

It is unclear if any of the two additions will be portraying a villain or friend to the Law & Order: Organized Crime force.

‘Law & Order: Organize Crime’ Season 2 Details

The cast of Season 2 will obviously include Christopher Meloni as Eliot Stabler. Additionally, Danielle Moné Truitt as Ayanna Bel and Tamara Taylor as Professor Angela Wheatley. Another confirmed returner is  Ainsley Seiger as Jet Slootmaekers.

There will be three eight episode arches during this season. Godfather will kick things off, followed by American Gangster and Scarface. Unfortunately, Dylan McDermott will not remain a series regular. He has become a recurring guest star. However, we will be seeing Stabler and Richard Wheatley duke it out again.

Showrunner Ilene Chaiken recently teased new twists to TV Insider.

“The show is serialized. There will be some mostly character elements, but also some threads that carry over, but we won’t be exclusively telling the Richard Wheatley story in a new season. There will be a new main adversary for Stabler and Bell.”

Additionally, SVU and Law & Order: Organized Crime will once again have crossovers. The crew of the shows have previously said that both series are filming and premiering at the same time, making it easier on everyone. The cast and crew have already begun filming in New York City.

The first episode of Law & Order: Organized Crime debuts on September 23 at 10 PM ET. This will air after the 23rd season of SVU that has a 2-hour time slot. Additionally, the following Thursday will feature two brand new episodes of Organized Crime beginning at 9 PM ET. From there on out, the show will air at 10 PM ET.

Hopefully, Organized Crime will live up to its previous record as the fifth most-watched scripted series in America and twelfth most popular show.
