Law & Order: Organized Crime’s Chris Meloni spent his Saturday enjoying some family time. And, a little bit of football in New Haven, Connecticut.

In a Saturday evening Instagram post, the Law & Order star shared a moment from his Saturday Funday with his kids while taking in a little Harvard-Yale football action.

“#TheGame #HarvardYale,” Christorpher Meloni shares with his Insta followers in a recent post. The doting father made sure to tag his two children Sophia and Topher along with the Insta pic.

It was certainly an exciting game for the Meloni family to attend, too. It was an exciting Saturday afternoon match-up as the Yale Bull Dogs squared off with Harvard Crimson.

In the end, Harvard triumphed over the Bulldogs in an exciting 34-31 win. This win came after a late comeback that shocked many Crimson – and Bulldog – fans.

Of course, it’s no surprise that Chris Meloni enjoys his family time with his children.

His family has long been something the Law & Order actor has prioritized.

In fact, the Law & Order: Organized Crime star recently appeared in an episode of PBS’s Finding Your Roots. The actor appeared on the episode after the series began a search for Meloni’s, great grandfather, Enrico Meloni.

‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Star Learns A Lot About His Roots

In the 2019 PBS episode, fans of the Law & Order star learn that Enrico Meloni was a Boston olive oil salesman. Enrico Meloni was also the first of the Meloni family to come to the United States.

In the emotional episode, Chris Meloni broke down in tears as he learned of the struggles his great grandfather Enrico encountered during his lifetime.

Of course, it was an unusual moment to see as the Law & Order: Organized Crime star began to tear up. Meloni’s fans, of course, are used to seeing the television detective face some intense obstacles with a stone-faced tough-man demeanor.

As the information came forth in the 2019 episode, Chris Meloni learns that his great-grandfather Enrico was an orphan.

According to hospital records that were obtained from the small Italian town Enrico was abandoned as an infant.

According to the Finding Your Roots episode, records show that Enrico Meloni was most likely raised by a local nurse for a number of years. However, once Chris Meloni’s great grandfather reached the age of twelve he was left to fend for himself.

“Oh man, that’s the school of hard knocks,” says the actor after hearing the harrowing story of his grandfather.

The Law & Order: Organized Crime star then addressed his great-grandfather’s memory as he began to tear up “Oh, I owe you a debt,” the actor says tearfully. “Yep, that’s what the feelings are.”

During Meloni’s Finding Your Roots episode, the longtime actor also learned that he is related to the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi. According to the “roots” Meloni and Pelosi, both can trace their roots to Italy and they are officially distantly related.
