‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’: Is Elliot Stabler Actor Chris Meloni Returning After Season One Finale?

The “Law & Order: Organized Crime” finale is almost here, and audiences have one big question. Is Elliot Stabler actor Christopher Meloni in it for the long haul? The legendary figure of the “Law & Order” universe returned this year after a 10-year hiatus from the franchise. And fans will be relieved to learn that, at present, it definitely looks like Elliot Stabler plans on sticking around.

Meloni returned to the fold in a major way. In April, his appearance on an episode of “Law & Order: SVU” saw him get back together with his former cast. And his character arc in Season 22 was used as a crossover to help launch “Organized Crime.” Now, as the end of Season 1 for his new show approaches, he’s clearly excited about the prospect of coming back for more.

The “Law & Order” star took to Instagram to thank the cast and crew for a job well done and also reaffirmed his intention to stick around for another season, at the very least.

“Our job is done, urs not quite- to the #OCOG cast and crew: thank you, it has been an honor AND a pleasure to tell a story with you. To those watching: thank you to the many faithful and to the newbies.
1st 8 are in the books 22 to come,” Meloni wrote in his Instagram post.

The “Law & Order” star loves to keep his fans informed, and his involvement in Season 22 of “SVU” was no secret. He enjoyed his reunion with longtime co-star Mariska Hargitay.

The ‘Law & Order’ Universe is Huge, and is Only Getting Bigger

“Law & Order” creator and executive producer Dick Wolf has built an empire out of his original hit series that aired from 1990-2010. At present, there have been at least seven spin-off shows, not including all of the multiple international iterations.

“Organized Crime” is the most recent of these, however. And with Season 2 set to kick off this fall, there is even more to be excited about. In a three-show lineup on NBC, a brand new offering titled “Law & Order: For the Defense” will air on Thursday nights, followed by “SVU” and “Organized Crime.”

“This new show is exciting for me personally,” Dick Wolf told Deadline in early May. “We spent the last 30 years on shows that played offense. Now it will be great to play defense…”

It’s impossible to predict how these titles will play with each other. Meloni’s return on “SVU” set the stage for crossovers in the future. But we’ll just have to wait and see if “Law & Order” will gradually take over primetime TV entirely.
