‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’: Season 2 Premiere Date Announced with Special Details

Mark your calendars for the Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 2 premiere!

TV Line reported the new schedule for the spinoff legal drama. The debut episode premieres on Thursday, September 23 at 10 PM. This will follow the 2-hour Law & Order: SVU premiere at a special time, 8 PM.

The following Thursday on September 30, SVU will once again air at 8 PM. This time, Law & Order: Organized Crime will debut two new episodes at 9 PM.

Originally, there was going to be an entire block filled with Law & Order series on Thursdays. Law & Order: For the Defense was officially nixed by NBC. The spinoff was reportedly canceled before the network executives even watched a pilot.

Instead, The Blacklist will take the place of the intended show for the leadoff timeslot. Moving forward after the first two weeks, SVU will premiere at 9 PM ET and Law & Organized Crime will follow at 10 PM.

Christopher Meloni had an extremely heartwarming moment when he returned to set for the first time after a long hiatus. The actor told TV Line that he was leaving his trailer when a big fan of the franchises walked by him.

He recalled to the outlet that she was in shock and starts hyperventilating.

“Tears start swelling and forming in her eyes. I’m like, ‘Hey, how you doing?’ She goes, ‘No, you don’t understand: You’re the reason I became a cop.’ That was my introduction back to the meaning and the power and the place that my character — and our characters — have held in the consciousness of many people. It was nice,” Meloni shared.

Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni’s Chemistry

New Law & Order: Organized Crime actor Ainsley Seiger was amazed by Mariska Hargitay and Chris Meloni’s chemistry. Sieger plays the role of Jet Slootmaekers, the NYPD hacker extraordinaire. The former co-stars returned for the Law & Order: SVU episode, “Return of the Prodigal Son,” back in April. The two shows and teams have now been crossing over on a regular basis.

“You really wouldn’t be able to tell that they’ve spent a decade apart, it doesn’t show,” Seiger told PopCulture. “They fell right back into that rhythm.” She added that they have “undeniable chemistry” together.

“So much time has passed and so much distance has grown between them,” she continued. “But it’s almost more interesting to me to watch them work together as people because they get along so well. And isn’t that just the dream for everyone? To show up to work and get to play pretend with someone who you genuinely like that much, it’s really intoxicating.”
