Some fictional villains you love to hate and others you hate to love. Law & Order: Organized Crime’s character Wheatley seems to fall into the former camp. Fans are especially happy his actor, Dylan McDermott, teased Wheatley’s grand return.
Taking to Twitter, Dylan McDermott posted a picture teasing his character coming back to Organized Crime. Sporting tape on his forehead, one can see “Wheatley” spelled out on it. Accompanying the picture was a caption simply stating “Wheatley is coming soon to a household near you! @lawandordertv.”
Fans are ecstatic to see their favorite series villain return. For those who don’t know, Wheatley is the man suspected of killing Elliot Stabler’s wife, Kathy. That by itself is enough of a reason to despise him, but his personality certainly doesn’t help. A smart, corrupt businessman with mafia ties, he’s ambitious to the point he’ll trample anyone who dares get in his way.
Despite this, Wheatley seems to have a cult following. Fans on Twitter are losing it about him coming back. “He better be coz if loving him is wrong then I don’t ever want to be right,” one user replied to him. “C’mon baby! So ready. 12/9 will be a good day overall! Watching this will cap off a day I’ve been looking forward to for 10 years!” another happily wrote.
The character is so divisive it seems some households are experiencing infighting. “I’m pro-Wheatley and my husband is pro-Stabler, so things might get interesting in our household!” someone told McDermott. Another user agreed, with her home also being torn whether to support the series veteran, Stabler, or the charismatic villain.
Nonetheless, the 2-hour crossover debuts on December 9, so we won’t have to wait too much longer.
‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Fans Ponder About Benson and Stabler’s Relationship in the Upcoming Crossover
While we are being treated to Wheatley making his return, the teaser for the Law & Order crossover episode showed an interesting moment between Stabler and Olivia Benson. Near the end of the clip, we see the two holding hands, leading fans to speculate about their relationship during and after the episode.
In the Reddit post “How do you see Elliot and Olivia’s relationship progressing in the crossover,” a poll was made for fans to weigh in on what they thought was going to happen. The majority seem to think it was a red herring, with the pair of hands not even belonging to the two of them.
Though many commenters note they’d love to see the relationship become romantic, they think Olivia’s “one step at a time” line refers to Wheatley and bringing him to justice, more than their relationship.
Overall, the comments and the poll are rather split, with fans thinking it can go either way. The two have history and undeniable chemistry, but it appears we’ll just have to wait and see.
