‘Law & Order: SVU’ Fans Debate Who Is the Series’ Worst Villain

With 22 seasons to look over, Law & Order: SVU has had its fair share of downright evil villains. The show, which follows a group of detectives who solve sex crimes, has taken an unflinching look at that evil since 1999. Still, some villains stick out more than others. Law & Order: SVU fans are taking to Reddit to debate who the worst villain in the series is.

The discussion started when one user asked fans to rate the villains on a list.

“If you go on my profile and find the post about the most evil characters on SVU, you’ll see my list and I’m doing the exact same people but in an actual order, unlike the other list. Least to Worst: 6. Jake O’Hara – Least evil 5. Carl Rudnick 4. Greg Yates 3. Henry Mesner 2. William Lewis,” the fan wrote. Number one on their list? “Larry Moore aka The Woodsman.”

Lary Moore was a brutal villain on the series. He was a serial killer responsible for the agonizing deaths of 24 women. But other fans had other ideas about who was the worst.

“Missy in Damaged,” another person said. Missy was a teenager who ruthlessly planned the murders of her sister and two others.

Another fan said William Lewis was the worst. Many would agree with that sentiment as William Lewis’s role in the series was personal, as the serial killer targeted Olivia Benson multiple times, even kidnapping and torturing her at one point.

Finally, another person said that Gloria Stanfield gave them chills. Stanfield was a murderer who conspired to escape punishment by marrying her boyfriend so he couldn’t stand trial against her.

No matter what villain gives you the worst chills, Law & Order: SVU could still surprise you with someone worse. The show is filming its 23rd season right now.

‘Law & Order: SVU’ Star Mariska Hargitay’s Manager Was Worried about Her Taking The Role

Even though Mariska Hargitay has found incredible success playing Olivia Benson on Law & Order: SVU, her manager initially didn’t want her to take the role. Surprisingly, it was because Hargitay was interested in comedy at the time. If you couldn’t tell from the villains listed above, Law & Order SVU is about the furthest thing from a comedy you can get.

“I was like ‘This is it!’” Hargitay told Parade Magazine “My manager was worried because it was very dark and not up my alley, because I liked comedy. And I was like, ‘This is right up my alley.’ Never in my life had something been more known to me.”

Hargitay still stars on the show. Many believe that the show couldn’t exist without her at the heart of it all. If you want to see what’s next for the Law & Order: SVU characters, the show comes back on Thursday, September 23rd.
