Everybody loves a good crossover moment. For fans of “Law & Order: SVU” and “Only Murders in the Building,” well, this one’s for you. The former, of course, stars Queen Bee Mariska Hargitay as Captain Olivia Benson. The latter also boasts some pretty big names with Selena Gomez alongside comedic legends, Steve Martin and Martin Short.
The two worlds collided when Mariska Hargitay posted a couple of snaps from a “beautiful afternoon” spent with Selena. The captions don’t really tell us much about any potential projects in the works, but we’re just happy to see our Queen Bee happy.
Law and Order Room Service? Mariska Hargitay Soaks Up #GirlTalk
Here’s the first photo “Law & Order: SVU’s” Mariska Hargitay shared with her 2.3 million Instagram followers. It shows off three “rare beauties,” paying homage to the beauty company that Selena Gomez founded with the same name. Check it out:
Ladies supporting ladies? We love to see it. Mariska Hargitay makes a pun out of Gomez’s show leaving #OnlyFriendsInTheBuilding among a plethora of other cute tags. But, wait, there’s more! She then posted a stunning selfie of just her and Selena side by side.
This one relays Hargitay’s “beautiful afternoon with this sweet soul.” She goes on to gush about Selena saying she’s “crazy about this one!” The ladies are bare-faced and au natural but still glowing as always.
‘Only Murders in the Building’ References Christopher Meloni’s Physique
With the lasting legacy that the “Law & Order” universe continues to create, it’s not entirely uncommon to hear a reference or two to the show in other areas of pop culture. The comedic trio of Selena Gomez, Steve Martin, and Martin Short actually partook in this phenomenon with their own tribute to none other than Christopher Meloni.
Their true-crime podcast fan characters actually called him out by name for episode 21, “To Protect and Serve.” During the episode, Martin and Short’s characters visit the home where Gomez’s Mabel Mora character grew up. Here, they discover her status as a huge Christopher Meloni fan. In fact, they hilariously uncover a life-size cardboard cut-out of Meloni in a full-on Elliot Stabler costume.
The older actors then proceed to joke about their discovery, while Mabel defends her love for the character and how he “always kept it tight.” This comes in reference to his physique, which has been a hot topic on the internet since the premiere of his spin-off. He even went fully nude for a cover of Men’s Health Magazine earlier in the year.
“Only Murders in the Building” is available to stream on Hulu.
